There is a tick in Northern California that when it bites a pregnant animal it causes them to abort. However once they are bit they are immune to it for life. So friends of ours expose their young heifers before breeding or just count on loosing them on older cows/ heifers brought in already bred. UC Davis is currently doing research on the tick. Not sure as to the name or more info sorry! Good luck to ya! Lepto would be my guess even with up to date shots. Did you vaccinate for Lepto? Good Luck to ya!
