Former Vikings head coach Bud Grant passed today a couple months short of his 96th birthday.

Active until nearly the end, Vikings 1st year head coach Kevin O'Connell says he met with Bud Grant weekly in Grant's office
last year during the season.
He was the ultimate Minnesota Viking, giving the next generation of fans a taste of what he represented when in January 2016
he walked to mid field in -6 degree below zero weather in short sleeves for the coin flip of the playoff game vs Seattle.
Very memorable for old school fans. He and John Madden were near opposites yet each great in a way uniquely their own.

And played for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL and was a good baseball player in college.
Also played pro basketball for the Lakers, before his good friend GM Sid Hartman negotiated selling the Lakers to Los Angeles.
He said what he learned as a player with the Lakers helped to make him a better coach in Winnipeg and later the Vikings.
