I am a guy who runs red equipment mostly - but want to give you folks an example of the differences in pricing. I have some green, blue and some orange as well, but the majority is red. I am blind to colour because in my opinion it does not indicate quality - there is little difference today and I am certainly not loyal to one over the other - but what follows, many may find interesting. A recent - last winter expeience. Case IH 5250 tractor - Case IH solenoid - $258.00 NAPA - Case IH capable solenoid - exactly 58 dollars. You can be darned sure I always call Case first - get the part number - and then I call a jobber and give them the Case IH part number. I generally come in at less than 50% of the cost of a part. Another example: Starter for Case IH 5250 tractor - Case IH part - $1,100.00 NAPA equivalent - $399 bucks - or thereabouts - cannot remember exactly. So - if I was you I would: a. Get the part number - a phone call will do it. b. Call some jobbers - saves the gas money c. Buy at the best price. Oh, for those that believe the Case parts would have been better quality - a real close examination of the starter and solenoid showed they came from the same darned manufacturer that Case buys from!! I would be very, very surprized if this were different when it comes to green or blue or orange paint. Someone - that person being me - got tired of paying for the colour of paint - a long time ago!!!! Bez>
