So my uncle has raised Brangus for many years. What he did not keep to take to show he would sell. Every time he has been at our place he always liked the calves out of our 3/4 Simbrah bull on commercial Beefmaster mommas. This past summer after seeing the 3rd set of heifers we were keeping he proposed a plan to bring a couple of his Brangus mommas and breed them to our bull. In October he brought us a 8yo (her sire is SVF Bright Future) that was heavy bred to Doguet's Hercules 88S3 and she had a heifer in December. Don't know much about those 2 bulls but the video I saw on Hercules...yikes he is one powerful bull and this heifer should be a good one. Cow/heifer pic at 2 days old. 3/4 Simbrah bull For reference here is one of the bulls first heifers (Simbrah/Beefmaster) with a 3 day old calf and she calved at 25 months. Once she comes back in she will be bred and then just wait to see the outcome. The plan is to keep all heifers from the mating and future matings. If you break down the numbers off this bull (3/4 on the ASA site but is really 80/20) the resulting calf will be 40% Simm, 31% Angus and 29% Brahman. His EPD's are in the top 10% for MCE and top 1% for API and we have been keeping almost every heifer he throws so we are hoping this cross should make for a great momma cow. Thoughts?
