490 pound steer to finish or not to?

I just got a 490 pound steer. Should I let him eat grass and out in weight before finishing him or should I go ahead and start finishing him now?

It depends....on how hungry you are . I'd let him get bigger. How good is your grass?

It's alright grass. I have a bull on 5 acres I was thinking of putting him with.

Is it a beef breed steer? A lot of people try to grow a Holstein before they start them on feed and that does not work very well! They need to be on grain from start to finish.
