    Selling calves

Well we weaned our first little group of calves with no problems. Now we are weaning the second group. We tried a little reverse psychology this time!! Instead of putting the calves in the little lot, we put the cows (only 3) in the little lot up front and the calves stayed with the rest of...

    Selling calves

Yes, we tried those nose flaps once. Didn't care for them but they may be worth trying again. When we bring to the sale barn, my husband just loads them up and goes too. And we just gave them a price. Not by the pound. And we told them we would wean them. They are separated as of...

We have a sand pile that we were filling mud holes up with. A few of the cows stick there heads all in it. Their head will be completely covered in it. All in their ears and on their noses and around their eyes. I worry about it getting in their eyes and lungs. But for some reason they...

to feed or not to feed, that is the question

Our cows have been going thru hay so fast! They always have a couple tubs, loose mineral and on Saturdays my husband dumps a bag of cubes out. They went thru 2 round bales in 3 days. Even when the weather was fine, they were going thru them that quickly. There are 12 cows, 2 calves and the...
