How do you get a carcass graded?

Nope, as long as they're not really stressed. I took my latest steer to butcher last Sunday evening. I put him in a pen and left him overnight. Alot of people just bring them there the morning of the kill date. They are just fine.

    Lunch with the girls

Yes, been hearing about all the fires in California. Hope the fires don't touch your neck of the woods. Stay safe.

    Lunch with the girls

You must be in a drought feeding hay this early. On the bright side, the cows are looking good.

    Missing momma on mommas day

Glad it went well. I never pull my trailer either when I'm going to pen, work or load them. I don't change ANYTHING from when I just bring them in the pen to cube them because they know it's something different. The older ones are the first to alert if anything is out of the normal routine. It's...

    Missing momma on mommas day

How smooth was it this time, at least a little easier???

    Well here we go

Glad it went smooth. When we go to work my knuckle heads, I go in by myself, get the cube truck and drive thru the pens and drop a couple hundred pounds of cubes. Then go around and get the calves into the pen and shut the gates one by one. Then I text the help that's been waiting out of sight...

How old is "he", I assume it's a steer? Has he been on feed awhile? How much does he weigh? :welcome: to the boards.

    Interested in cattle

Cattle can get stole, hit by cars, etc. Like i said, ive not free ranged cattle before. The main guy that does it in my area turns out about 40 long horns and a angus and charolais bulls.

    Interested in cattle

Bfields30, sounds like you might be close to me. I'm in northern Newton county. There are several people that free range their cattle here, but I don't. I run charolais mom's and a Maine Angus bull. Get growthy calves that do well at the barn and some good replacement heifers. I also feed out a...
