    Disease Spread By Deer????????/

    I had three bull that I was puting in a sale. When I had the BSE done the bulls turned up with Blue Tongue that is spread by deer drinking from the waters. It made the bulls temporary sterile. I had to pull them from the sale. In a couple of months they checked out fine, too late for the sale.

    Percentages

    I supect that they mean 70% of cows exposed to the bull, not bred by the bull. Cost and calving numbers should be figured using cows exposed. That is the only way to account for the cost of the open cows.

    dieing calfs

    I would at least move the hay rings to fresh ground away from the infected area. I always feed my cattle in a different spot each day, especially during calving season.
