    warning about pore on wormers

That is what I was thinking. That pour on should not have ignited a week later. Even with a flame...

To implant or not to implant

Capturing what profit one possibly could in a down market is why we opted to go the NHTC route. Even if you don’t finish yourself and want to sell at weaning, you COULD market your calves to an NHTC Livestock barn or a feeder who is interested. You won’t capture the same premium but you will...

To implant or not to implant

We get paid a premium for non-hormone but before that, we didn’t either. Ive been curious to pull a similar group to finish out with implants and non. To see which gets to finish faster. If let’s say, our implanted cattle finished a month earlier than our non-implant.... would the 16-19 cent...

    Gallbladder Trouble

I’ve been experiencing extreme bloating and heaviness around my diaphragm. So uncomfortable after eating, it feels like my ribs are going to crack from pressure in my tummy. I told someone the other day, I feel 9 months pregnant when I’m miserable and told the tech yesterday, that the isotope...

    Gallbladder Trouble

I had an ultrasound and then followed up with a HIDA scan yesterday morning. The ultrasound showed no stones or sludge but doctor felt it was still gall bladder based on my symptoms. I chalked it all up to putting on about 15 lbs after I quit smoking. Ready to start again because I was feeling...

    Hernia-Genetic?

This is very interesting. In the convo I had with a gentleman the other day, he said “I suppose it could. I know that I’ve suffered several shoulder dislocations and my father and grandfather have also had several.” I can’t say I’ve ever had one.

It is a different mating, so we shall see.

    Hernia-Genetic?

We had some convo last night with a few other cattlemen. One suggested weak walls and could see that as heritable. Did speak with our normal vet who saw it more of a rarity than a potential heritable defect. Also spoke with the gentleman who we bought the (bred) heifer from who also owned the...

    Hernia-Genetic?

We had to catch a calf that in pasture yesterday that we thought initially had to be a naval infection. We gave nearly a week for the Draxxin to work but wasn't showing any signs of improvement. I called the vet last night that was close to our pasture to see if anyone was there and he said he...

    Flies flies flies

Ha. I do eat a lot of garlic. I can live off ranch and garlic, I’m sure.

    Flies flies flies

Trying everything here. With the flooding, we are seeing a big increase in every bug. June bugs were awful. I hate even taking pics of the cow/calf’s because of the flies. We are going all in on an attack this weekend. I messaged my nutritionist about garlic. They aren’t there yet.

    Prime Time? (hereford)

Had some company out to our place last night. Talking cattle, he said back in the 90s, he was very close to the Prime Time ordeal. Mentioned that Prime Time was HOT and there was a lot of money exchanged/sold on him. Forward 3 years and that operation lost everything because as the use of him...

    Heifers and second calves.

Early calves, we always bet they're heifers. In fact, we had an ET calf born about 8 days post due date and it was a heifer, so we're certain it is probably bull bred. We expect everything later, to be a bull.

    Over Conditioned

We have a cow that I call Mary Antoinette because she loves her cake. She must LOVE the feed too because I think she gains ten pounds just looking at it. I have never ever, in my life... seen a cow this FAT. She calved nearly 2 months ago and looks like she's holding in 6 more babies. We went to...

Our President calf lost his mommy today. Very sad moment for us at Branded

You have better pictures of their feet? I’ve never seen a front set and back set looks so diversely different. So I’m just wondering if it’s the photo themselves.

    Nutrition = +Results

Have two cow/calf operations that boasted how much they saved not doing a good mineral program. My husband told them to let him know how that works come calving/breeding season. :tiphat:

    Respiratory Issues....

We used the Inforce last year as well. We had a VERY hard winter, cold as heck... Up and down swings. We kept all newborn calves in our calving barn for atleast 12 hours after calving to make sure they paired up and sucked. Then sent them to the pens (which all had a high sorghum cover for...

    Baby Calves and Buzzards

Last year was the first year we've ever had fall calving. We never had issues with buzzards up until then. Had to stop banning our bull calves at birth because of them. That greatly reduced the problem. The buzzards would attack their sacks.
