Here's the little guy. The same sire as the black heifer's. Will weigh him tomorrow. There are two more cows near calving, but I really hope that both will hold their legs crossed for a couple more days as we got snow today... That's why the newborn is in the shed.

    New generation

She just outgrew all others. The second biggest from the same group is around 1750-1800lbs maybe, others on average around 1500-1550lbs I think. Have some real big heifers for AI this year as well, so seeing a slow growth of cows size with years. Current biggest in the youngsters group...

    New generation

Let pregnant heifers out in the field today to get some exercise before calving. 87,5% char, should be around 1900lbs currently. The heaviest this year and maybe the heaviest we ever had as a heifer. 9 in total, due from the 3rd to 19th of May. All incalf from AI, 8 sired by AI bulls...

From the experience, milk (quality and quantity) helps to show the potential of the calf from the start. If there is some lack of it the calf won't show it's potential until proper nutrition will be given. The same thing works the opposite way. If there are no good genetics, but cow provides...

Today had another newborn. This time piedmontese sired bull calf, out of limx cow, 278 days gestation, calved unassisted. Really wanted a heifer from this breeding 🤦‍♀️

Yesterday's heifer. Having an issue with her dam accepting her, so some extra work will be needed for now. Then will see if she will be raised by her mom or not.

Today's arrival. 75% parthenaise heifer, 289 days gestation, hardly 90lbs. Sire (indexes shows that he should be pretty hard calved, but so far had two calves born and both were small):

Today's arrival. Heifer by the lim bull, out of 11years old cow. There might be max 3 calves by that bull and that's all. Two were AI'ed as well, so will see what kind of calves will be born. Not much time left until finding out, one is due on the 6th and another on the 12th.

No, unfortunatelly didn't order any of his straws this time. These two are what I'm currently using on the pure girls:

Sires of the grey heifer and the last bull calf: Both bulls had some calves born last year, so fairly trusted. The blonde bull is considered to be an average calving bull, parthenaise an easy calving.

Had another newborn just before midnight. This time parthenaise sired bull calf out of limx cow, 292 days gestation, unassisted. Second calf for the cow. Previous calf was by the same sire, but a heifer and needed a slight assistance with ropes. Last year's full sister at 1,5months age.

Pretty simple ration. We used to push bulls more, when price of meal was lower. We used to give 20lbs/day of meal for 1200lbs bulls. Had on average 5,5lbs DWG then. Bulls were grazing in the fields though. Currently we give way less meal, grazing as well. 18% protein meal currently. It takes...
