    Bull shopping today

I like them - especially the bull with the white face. I am not ready for that much snow yet. Please update us with pictures and update in the spring. Hopefully on this thread.

    Herefords -- Horned versus Polled?

That would mostly depend on whether or not the bull was heterozygous polled or homozygous polled.

Best Simmental or Angus bulls for the fescue belt

Good post and like Ebenezer, the cattle that I have that work currently are not modern lines and most would laugh at the EPD's. Even though their EPD's are dramatically less, they usually raise significantly heavier calves than the cows that I did have with much better EPD's. An Angus bull...

Best Simmental or Angus bulls for the fescue belt

Ron, I know it feels that tough, especially on part of the farm, but didn't realize it was the highest toxicity in the nation. The Simmentals that I had tried were definitely not adapted for our fescue. Our county used to have a lot of the yellow and white spotted Simmentals that lived to be...

Best Simmental or Angus bulls for the fescue belt

This is also a subject that I have been watching and working with for years. My best luck with Angus has been an elderly farmer in Arkansas. His cattle are mostly Emulous and linebred. I don't have any experience with Simmental that work here. I have tried a couple from Iowa, but with no luck...

    Longevity

I think it would have to be at least 25 years old if my math is right as she had a calf at side.

    Fastest Growing Breed Cross?

In this scenario, I don't think you breed to make your own replacements unless you have another set of purebred cows to make the F1's as your replacements would be a 3 way cross and the resultant calves would have less heterosis unless WalnutCrest is on to something. Am I missing something?

Belgian Blue - Facts or Fiction

In the late 1990s'n and early 2000's, I had 10 fullblood Belgian Blue cows running with a fullblood bull without problems until the bull got an abscess in a vital area. Our vet thought it was a snake bite. Anyway, prices were down and the open cows averaged ~$400 more than the other open cows at...

    Longhorn Cross

Bigfoot, Any Charolais bulls nearby? The picture looks like a few of my unplanned Charolais cross calves born to heifers. Ron

    Idaman

This my first time through this thread and I am looking forward to the book. My condolences to Idaman's family. It sounds like he lived though and had his priorities straight. Hopefully we all will be so fortunate!

    Aubrac x. Mashona

Nice looking calf - she took the color of the Aubracs. Is she horned? I hope she does well and thanks for posting the picture!

    Angus/Herford vs Angus/Simmental

I have been surprised and pleased with the F1 growth with Danny's Hereford bulls. I have only used Hereford crossed on other breeds and have not used Angus on Hereford yet.

    AUBRAC Cattle

:welcome: I am likewise interested in seeing your pictures - including the horns on an ideal cow. Thanks!

960 is quite the bull and I am looking forward to using him and looking forward to his daughters even more. He has settled in nicely to his new home. Thanks again Danny!

    Angus/Herford vs Angus/Simmental

Thanks - I am looking forward to seeing it + I guess I should be more specific on the Hereford bulls. I plan on using more of Danny's bulls and just got home with my second one this past Saturday.
