Back country is only scary if you have to be somewhere. People made it for the last few thousand years in the "wilderness". We (humans) are programmed to be dependent on everything like time, money, comfort, debt etc. Give those up, it gets easier. If you have nothing, you have nothing to loose.

Sat last night in a 2man stand. Saw a doe with twins sneak in and hang out for about 5 minutes about 15yards. In that 5 min I watched the twins nurse on her. Wow! First time for that.... Told my wife I watched the meaning of life.
