    Uterine Prolapse pics

On the topic of coating the prolapse with sugar, I took Mr TC for a follow up visit with his primary care physician and his Dr was scrolling through the pics of Mr TC's surgery/new hardware on my phone when he saw the pics of the cows prolapse. He said he uses sugar on prolapses in women...

    One or Two?

You may want to try the Madigan Squeeze for the possible "dummy calf" syndrome and contracted tendons usually straighten out in a few days but there's always the option of splints to help in more severe cases. Link below to the Madigan Squeeze and there are tons of videos online. Hello...

    One or Two?

Good save with the pull! I'd hate to be the cow that tried to spit out 130 lbs. without assistance. Please keep us updated with his weaning weight!

older cow with bad bag..but new heifer calf...what are the odds of her passing bad bag to new calf?

Yup. But I'll chime in with my 2 cents. Three-year-old cow had her 2nd calf this morning, a beautiful, big heifer. And the calf can't nurse her enormous bottle teats. Gave the calf a bottle of colostrum replacer, just to be sure, and got her latched on. Which lasted all of 30 seconds before...

    Mostly Heifer calves

Dangit, another heifer calf today. Up to 19 heifers, 12 steers. I culled hard last year so only calving out 43, which is the smallest amount in probably 14 years.

    Mostly Heifer calves

We generally end up 50/50 but this year we're heavy on heifers. Only have 13 more to calve, so hoping they're bulls.

    Mostly Heifer calves

I've had a couple that threw almost all bulls. But I believe you're referring to Pipsqueak (Squeaker). As of last year, she had only given me 2 heifers, but this year, her 12th calf is also a heifer. Keeping her as well!

    New bull time

I called my breeder this morning and told him I needed a new heifer bull. Can't wait to see what he delivers this time! I did ask how the Chisolm Trail sale went and he said a lot of the bulls went for $5500 - the market is up. Pound for pound, I should make a killing off Willy when I sell...

    One or Two?

Sounds just like our old Steamroller - and she came by her name honestly. Friend was over and asked when she was due. Ummm, that's her month-old calf next to her. You could never tell she was bred just by looking at her and weighed in at 2300 lbs. heavy bred. But that fat girl calved like...

My bad. I was still running with uterine, not vaginal. And yes, I believe they can be hereditary and recurring.

    New bull time

Their Gelbvieh bulls are pretty docile and easy to work but some of them are homo black. I think you'll like the calves. Congrats! And if you're near Winfield when you're picking him up, give me a heads up!

    Uterine Prolapse pics

Do you know why? Not very common from what I understand and not hereditary. Knock wood, I've only had one and it was on a first calf heifer. This was the 2nd calf for my friend's cow. But (not judging) their cattle are overall probably a BCS 4 or 5 max.

Granulated. My vet says it has more "grip". And yes, stitched it in a circle.

    Uterine Prolapse pics

When my vet was working on my cow with a breech calf (and only snubbed to the grill of my Polaris with a rope), she was pregnant in her 3rd trimester. Yesterday, her husband came out with her and the baby was strapped in the car seat. She takes her job very seriously and she's a rock star!

    Uterine Prolapse pics

In case you have never seen what a uterine prolapse looks like, here you go. My best friend manages her dads ranch. Got there this morning and found a cow with just the head of the calf sticking out, sure looked dead. Pushed the calf back in, got the front legs out, and pulled the calf...

    New bull time

My best friends dad just bought a homo polled Gelbvieh for $4850, which included delivery. That's the most he's ever spent on a bull, even when he bought from the Judd Ranch.

    New bull time

No, but the annual Chisolm Trail Angus Association sale is this Friday in Winfield. Bill McIntyre is who I buy all my bulls from (for the past maybe 8 years) but I generally buy his yearlings private treaty...

    'Bout Time!

Those tags are orange. Each year the calves from the first calf heifers get a new color and I rotate until I run out and start all over again. The K on the tag is from the matriarch of this lineage. She was one of our original cows, #5. Our first heifers from those cows were #1-A, #2-A, etc...

Update! Pepper had a bull calf, Cayenne, and Piper had another heifer, Pickles! Super excited with this lineage. Piper & Pickles: Pepper & Cayanne:
