Anyone ever put a balancer bull on char cow?

I am pretty sure I read the other day that less than 10% of the heifer crop is retained every yearas breeding stock. What is the big push to try to raise more of them. I would want more bull calves as they grow bigger.

Sorted out a group of 20 heifers out of a pen of 165 that we have been drylotting all winter. The intent is to keep 15 to breed this spring. They weigh about 750lbs. The vet was out to pelvic check them and noticed one was 6 months bred. Which means she was bred when we bought her last fall...

The whey protein market has skyrocketed, which is why milk replacer is going up. I do not know why. Though $84 seems very high. Can still get good milk replacer here in Kansas for $60.
