Yep. The nurse cow is the way to go. Used to buy 50 dollar calves and bottle break em. After about 2 weeks when good and healthy, they'd bring 300 It's a lot of work tho! I bid on the only one Thursday. 75lb red bull calf. Opened at 300. I went 350 When the vet went 375 I let him have it...

Backyard grassers must have come to the sale.

Don't make me bring my goat too!! I didn't get to watch many calves sell today. But the ones I did see, were pretty darn expensive. I think the supply chain ain't keeping up! Too many calf factories sent to slaughter. Crazy thing was, lots of nice 2 to 5 year old pairs from 2200 to 2750...

Hey you stay outta this. This thread is about brakes. And wheels. And thingy-ma-bobs. Doo-hickeys too.

    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

Sounds like ya did ok to me @Dave ! Buddy sold 2 that messed up outta his re-sell group. One was the cow that had the gimpy calf that died. The other was heavy bred but nutty and ran thru 2 fences cutting herself up pretty good upon catching. He lost a couple hundred total on those two cows...

    Close to $2.00 killer bulls

They sold 3 or 4 at Enid today. I forget what they brought. Even holstein cows are high. I tried pretty hard on 3, 7yr old thin char pairs. Started at 1800 a pr. Ended up around 2500. I was out long before that... I saw one char bull bring 1.99lb I think it was

    Slaughter cows and bulls.

Idk what you normally sell bulls for. But the one I wanted last Friday brought 5500. And his brother too. Slaughter bulls near 2000lbs at 1.80 today!! Do the math guys... wowza!

    This is Crazy over $10/pound!

Math. When they are selling as 6 wts for 1800 to 2000, I guess the juice is worth the squeeze. I'm not brave enough to put a pencil to it. The 2 I bought this year were 400 and 475. The cow is raising them. They will make money.

    This is Crazy over $10/pound!

Lots of babies at 600 and up as of late. Some crossbred babies will be cheaper. But still 400 plus

    Cow prices

I've the same thoughts. Most 5 and 6 year olds that are sold, have a problem! It's the OLD cows I like. They didn't get old by not doing their job!

    Bottle Calves!

Bottle babies have been high here for a while now. 500 seems to be normal. Dapples heifer I got for 400 And Bessies I got for 475 I have seen some obvious scrubby type go for much less. Even watched some jersey bull calves "no sale" a few weeks ago.
