Sold some 545 Avg# steers for 145.50 cwt. I was happy due to the lower prices here

I sold some steer calves on Saturday Avg. weight was 545# price was 1.45.50. Although prices are lower than the group I sold before, (last December) I was happy with outcome. :cboy:

Kenny usually Athens is the best around but they are dropping also. Although crossville was making a comeback. I'm planning on selling about 20 five weight steers/heifers in April, hope the market is back up by then.

We have also had some cold days but I think the weather is promising for next week. I didn't know if or how much the government sequester might effect beef prices or for how long.

Thanks to everyone for the information, In Knoxville 500# steers were bringing an average of 1.41 that's about 25 cents lower than a few weeks ago.

I'm a small farmer in East Tenn. Just wondering if any person has a prediction on 6&7 weight Steer/Heifer prices for 2013.Wonder if the high prices will hold throughout the summer? Thanks
