    JD 2755 electrical issue

55 series may be slightly different than my 4450 but did you hinge the roof up to get at the motors? If you tilt the roof up ( I believe it's two 15/16 head bolts and Philips from underneath) you should have full access to the blower assembly as well as all the cab light wiring. I would pull...

Moving a semi trailer without a truck

Has anyone ever come up with a simple way to move a semi trailer around with a tractor? I was looking around for a way to go 3 point to king pin, but of course the pin is 2 feet behind the front of the box. I used my 3 point gooseneck, into a hole in the trailers hitch plate. She moves it but...

    No till drills

I used to have a JD 1530 drill it did fine overall. Got some planting done and I ended up selling it, mostly cause it was 20 ft with no fold. There's better out there. Great Plains and pasture pleaser are supposed to be real good. I guess my advice would be don't go super old or super big.

    C&B squeeze chute

They do look well built, and pretty inexpensive comparatively speaking. But I personally do not like that style head catch, the saloon doors. Preifert and Arrowquip are worth the money IMO

    Shop Heaters

I've installed many tube heaters, Reznor and Schwank are the nicest, but with the price of LP I wouldn't want to heat a not so well insulated barn that way. I use a cleanburn waste oil heater, they're reasonable price, usually only need 240v have a low amp draw, and throw some serious heat. And...

    Air Ride Seat Retrofit ?

I put one of these in my 4450, but I went with mechanical susp. rather than the air ride just cause that's what my newer tractor has, I love it. Replaced my old deere hydra cushion...

    V Rake Poll

I run a JD 704, mostly because everything I own is green. Works awesome. My rake folds like a scissor, I prefer it over the other style wheel rakes where the wheels go up and over. Transport width is about 8ft. Kicker is hit and miss, it's mounted behind the V so it has to roll the entire...

Things are getting WAY out of hand

I would add, you're looking at cream of the crop John Deere tractors. If the Deere quality is too expensive, get you a new LS or Mahindra or something and we'll see if it's around in 40 years. I'm sure the company won't be.

Things are getting WAY out of hand

Well sound guard JDs are very desirable to this day especially with those low hours. I have an 86 4450 I wouldn't part with, generally outworks my newer tractors.

    Laminated tire question

I wouldn't try it laminated tires are good for about 25-30 mph. Especially just a 7ft mower, easy enough to set it on a trailer.

    Fire Extinguishers

Yep like others said, a stainless water filled fire extinguisher is what you need. Easy to pressurize with air hose. Just bring it in before winter. I have that mounted on baler, and a normal fire extinguisher stays in tractor cab behind seat.
