    How do you load cattle?

I know how to load cattle, I was just wondering which method everyone else prefers. I use the whole back door, and back my trailer up at a right angle to my alley and use a crowding gate to pop em up into the trailer. I haven't used the small sliding gate much, the first trailer I used had...

    Squeeze chute operation

I always release the head gate then the squeeze. Most of them usually back to the rear of the chute then... zoom! away they go out the front. I like doing it that way because if I released the squeeze first, then they jerk around in the squeeze, ramming their head and soulders into the...

    Portable panels

Thanks, all! I think I'll start out with a few heavy panels for my alley and if I want some more panels for general stuff, I'll use the lighter. thanks again, Brett

    Portable panels

I'm young still ;-) I'm just wondering if they're heavy duty enough, or overkill.

    Portable panels

I was wondering what y'alls thoughts were on priefert's priemer panels. I am thinking about biting the bullet and getting some. I plan to use them for everything from temp. gates, temp. pens and to use them to build short working alley to my headgate. I run stockers and background steers...

Hobby farmers Valuable asset to the Economy!

To each his own. Money means different thing to different people. I for one would sell, but just to buy a bigger, better place.

Darn good advice. Naw, I'm only half way there, I have dsl or cable or what ever you call it, I just know it's not dial up  :D ;-)

    Good Grief

I for one enjoy the pictures. I even enjoyed them back when I had dial up. Well by gosh, I'd even post a picture if I had a digital camera :P :P

    Whats a good alley width?

Right now I background steers, but in a few years I will add in some cows too. As to numbers, current capacity is 20-30 head at the most. I know that them small of numbers don't really need a real fancy set up, but I still want to make things easy to do when they need done.

    Holding pens, chutes squeeze gates

Hi Cracker, Here is Priefert's website http://www.priefert.com/dynamic/prod_list.php Under Cattle working equipment you can find squeeze shutes and headgates. Under Panels, you can see what they cost. The prices might be different in your area, I know on the web site the 12' premier panel is...

    Whats a good alley width?

Wow :o That's exactly where my old alley "hooks" to, (only on the west side ;-) ) I'm just tearing it out to put in a new narrower one that also connects to all of the pens. It wasn't fun running cattle from one end to the other going through each pen.(Poor planning on my part  )

    Whats a good alley width?

No, actually it did 8) . Besides using it for access to the working alley and headgate, and to get from pen to pen, I was also going to use it for sorting. My boss's alley's are 10' foot and they work ok, Thats what I'm leaning towards also, but I was just wondering what everyone else prefers...

    Whats a good alley width?

I'm wanting to construct a new alley way on the back of my pens to connect them all together. I'm trying to decide if I want a 10' alley or a 12' one. what size do you all use? I don't really want to go much bigger because sometimes I work cattle by myself and I don't want them to get past...

    A few ??? for a cattle newbie

A lot of time I use just one strand of elec. fence to keep in cattle. I don't use it for pasture just on milo stalks where there is no permenent fence. It is way cheaper to use Elec. fence than to erect a permanet fence that will be used only a short time each year. As we speak, we have two...

    How to contain a cow

TXBobcat, Brilliant! You can work a small herd. Have the unworked ones on one side, and after you "squeeze" one, open the far gate and send it to the other side. :D BTW, where did you get the idea? Brett
