    Profitable Professions or Ventures

Mechanic shop. Guy around here opened up a shop, hired a couple certified mechanics, and has all the work he can handle. He just kicks back and keeps everything organized. We have lots of Ford owners around here, so he stays busy.

Beginning of the end for Wrangler and Lee jeans?

I ain't wore Jean's for work in years. Much prefer the dickies and riggs carpenter style pants. Way more durable. But I do like wrangler Jean's. Hope this doesn't mean their quality will decline.

    President Sold Out

Hay equipment breakdowns are very frustrating. Nothing like having a field ready to bale with rain in the forecast but your baler is broke. Back when we were doing hay the knotters were always giving us fits. Just not worth it.

    Tough Question to answer

Don't want to get the thread off track, but if you think an auger is the easy way you really need to try a hydraulic post driver. Using post hole diggers to build fence is a test of one's sanity, not practical at all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNa5aP1cVJE

    Tough Question to answer

Fencing has been good to me. In this economy plenty of work out there in all parts of the country. Do a quality job and you will have more work than you can handle. But you have to know how to do it right. To start I figure you would need about a $1k in small tools, and of course a pickup truck...

Millennial's are going to see it rough...........

Part of the problem with finding good help right now is the economy is so good. Lots of jobs out there with people begging for workers so people can be picky about where they want to work. Was driving through town yesterday and saw a big wanted sign for "skilled construction workers". Thats...

Millennial's are going to see it rough...........

That's darn good pay to start out. Labor has always been an issue for us. Hard to find someone who wants to work and either doesn't have a record or isn't a complete idiot. Most of the young people nowadays are searching for an easy, inside job, even the ones who didn't go to college or even...

How can a person handle this heat?

71 and sunny with a breeze here today. Good working weather. Anything over 80 is miserable for me.

    Truck or car colors

I always drive with my headlights on, except in bright sunlight, because the brightness makes it difficult to see brake/turn signalsl.

    Cost per foot of fence

Ground with heavy brush thats been mulched can definitely be slick. Not fun on a slope. We have invasive Himalayan blackberries here. The vines get huge and can leave a big mess behind. But the mulcher is still better than hacking at it with a chainsaw. A dozer would make a better fence...
