My bull is slated to go in with them Friday. These heifers are Feb and March 2020 heifers and average 800lb. They will calve at the house and will be watched very close. I just don't know what the CED and BW tendencies are for Maine cattle.

Got to my south place yesterday and found a yearling, horned, black Maine bull in with my commercial Red Angus heifers. He's back where he belongs now but we think he had been with my heifers 3 days. Let's assume for argument he bred several. I know nothing about Maines except what I've seen...

I'm disappointed TC had to call out their own thread about the ear tags. Any time I post a calf pic that's the first thing people call me out for!!! :p I agree though about them growing into them and with my vision I need all the help I can get!!!

Thanks for the comments! I briefly explained the heifer probs in another post in February, but that darkest red (now) cow is my favorite cow on the place. Her calf died for completely unknown reasons 36 hours after birth (probably stepped on). Another heifer had a bag out. I walked away and...

Had the worst heifer calving year I could possibly imagine, but had a few that made it good.

Those are some fine looking girls! I've had cattle and horses all my life and my 2 girls wanted to show hogs and lambs. We went all in and had some great times for quite a few years. It taught me a lot.......Mostly that I want to stick to cattle and horses!!

I couldn't get Ralgro from anyone in late May. Used Revalor G on 4/5 weight stocker steers and I have liked my results. Revalor guy hoped the loss of Ralgro would boost his business enough, he was giving out their guns at the feed store one day. That was nice at least!

I knew someone from the north, east, or southeast wouldn't "understand" chicken fried steak. I'll never forget the trip I took with my parents in the 70's up the east coast and the looks I got when I tried to order it at every restaurant we stopped at!!

Praying for all you guys. Been watching this deal pretty close as I know several with devastating livestock loss. Hopefully most will get some FSA help. With the extended cold weather we've been having I fear hay will be hard for you to find.
