    Clover Galore

I would cut and bale but dont have a good reason why. Lol If it not a lot of acres it would be interesting to see what happens if you leave it.

Its from $28 to $35 here spread. If you have more than one option there can be a difference in the buffering effect of lime. Each place that sells it should have a sheet on it. A lime might be as much as 15% more or less effective according to the base rock. Clinchvalley86 has a lime near him...

I would spend on nothing but lime for now. Once you get your PH to 6.2-6.7 anything you add will respond much better.

What are the going lease rates for pasture?

Cowman82, you bring up some good points. For years i leased a lot of places and spent time and money making them better. Now i spend on my own land except for a few places close by that are free. My land went from what looked poor when i bought it 20 years ago to having the best grass around.

What are the going lease rates for pasture?

In Virginia the extension agent has an estimated rate for each county. They figure by acre but there is so much variation in the pastures i figure it by animal unit.

    14-5-38 fertilizer

I agree that everyone needs a soil test. I also have never seen a soil test on hay or pasture that didnt need something added. Its 1000 lb so grab it.

Picture he sent me today. Cows standing in belly deep grass but still reaching under the fence to eat.

    Grass ID

My app is saying quackgrass but not with a high degree of certainty. Im not confident in what it is. I rode through some of my paddocks that havent been grazed and cant find any of it. But i sure got way more grass than cattle to eat it.

    Clover Galore

Im pretty sure you haven't sowed any so it would be great to know why the red clover has done so well. I have some white but not much red. Ask your Ag Extension Agent out and get his or her ideas. They will be wanting to have a farm tour there.

I promise you its not fescue. I rely on fescue 11 months of the year.
