    Hydraulic oil filter

I have used a strap wrench on had to reach filters. I use a chain wrench on ones that are stuck. I have caved in oil filters with the chain wrench before finally getting the filter to break lose.

    Deere 4020 Suprise

Hold the toy tractor in one hand. Hold the key to the real tractor in the other. Tell him to pick one. Watch the confusion on his face as his mind begins to sort things out. Or Give him the toy and have the kids bring in the key. Have them ask him to help them because they can not get their...

bale processor for round bale silage

The 256 HayBuster is almost the same as the Vermeer I use. It will blow hay about 25 feet depending on how course the hay is.

bale processor for round bale silage

We use a Vermeer bale processor when we begin feeding a lot of hay, about this time of year. I like it because we can adjust the windrow to a long thin line of hay 100 yards long. It allows the calves and timid cows to find a place to eat. We had a dry September and began setting out a roll per...

    Flatbed gooseneck trailer

I have a 7 ton goose and a dual tandem. Here I do not need a CDL with in 150 miles from home as a crow flies. There is one thing that has always confused me about the load a gooseneck can carry. My 7 ton goose weighs around 3,000 lb. I know I am supposed to subtract the weight of the trailer...

    Hay mower

I have one really nice Bahia field that I cut at 5.2 to 6.5 MPH depending on the ground. I use a Krone EC 283, 9'2" cut, behind a 100 HP tractor. The Krone is shaft driven, no belts to slip. If I get in thick Bahia with our Kuhn and try to mow fast the belts will slip. I only get about 30 acres...

Masterful merging of two 9' windrows ?

I have a 10 wheel rake. I have used 8 wheel rakes before. I like the 10 wheel for merging two nine foot cuts. The 8 wheel will reach, just does not merge as well for me. A wheel rake rakes better for us when the wheels are moving the hay back vs side ways. We narrowed the width the 10 wheel...

Baling with a power reverser trans.

If the tractor is jerking with the power reverser then it needs adjusting. Our 6100D began to jerk going into reverse while still under warranty. It was an easy fix, no computer needed. Not sure how to recalibrate the 5000 series or if it is the same. I coast to a stop when the buzzer goes off...

Vermeer 5410 Rebel or New Holland BR740

Same here. Not many red round balers around here any more. Still some square balers seen though most have gone to inline balers for squares. New Holland makes a nice round baler. If a person is shopping with both eyes open the Vermeer baler is the better of the two.

    New Hay Tedder

The door is too small for an outhouse unless that would be where the kids were potty trained. I bought a 4 basket tedder last year. I would tedder hay all day with the 10 footer. Now the hay gets much more sunlight because we finish so much faster. On a wet or unpredictable weather year a high...

    John Deere 990 Round Baler?

Deere has bees testing these in Europe for a while. Some like the 9 series. Some believe the 8 series is hard to beat.

Checking out some new Deere paint

I like the new D series. Just wish I could still get a tier 3 engine. I really like the tier 3 we have in the 6100D.

    haybuster

I have a Vermeer hay processor that is the exact same machine as a HayBuster. It is 25 years old. HayBuster and Vermeer have been friends a long time. It would not surprise me if one bought the other.

Checking out some new Deere paint

We have a 6100D. It has been a good reliable tractor for us. The 5105M I run at times is more nimble, shorter turning radius etc. The 6105E is a much heavier tractor than the 5100E. 8,750 lb compared to 14.374 according to Tractor Data.com. http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractor ... 6105d.html...

    Bought a drum mower today

Bahia will make the belts slip on our Kuhn disc mower if we do not drop one gear. The 9'2" krone is shaft driven and never checks up. Bahia will eat disc mower blades quicker than any grass we cut.

    Bought a drum mower today

A drum mower is heavier and built more simple than a disc mower. I doubt they will ever over take disc mowers but they do have a following. We used one for years as they were the predecessor to the disc mower. The first disc mowers were not as dependable as they are now and not as dependable as...

    Bought a drum mower today

We ran a PZ drum mower years ago. Going from a cycle mower to a drum mower was a dream. Sold it to a cousin who used it for years.

    Mahindra tractors

They just have more sitting on old fence rows. There are two Mahindra tractors in our community. The local dealer is a good one and stands behind his product. Makes all the difference in the world. Neither of the two tractors around here are not asked to work hard. Mahindra has come out with...

    Raking Bermuda hay

Wheel rakes are great on grass hay. They are a little rough on legumes.

Sweep tub worth more than what I paid for it

I bought a commercial set up from a farmer who sold his cows. I ended up buying everything he owned related to cattle. While going through one of the tubs of supplies we saw he paid over $13,000 for the handling facility. He had it set up indoors. It is hot dipped galvanize and our doors here...
