Cocoa's not a pet but he acts like one???

So what is the best way to break him from thinking I'm a cow too? I read on the other thread about twisting his ears, to using a whip. Like I said, we don't want a pet, but we also don't want him trying to play every time we are in the pen. Thanks

Cocoa's not a pet but he acts like one???

Ok, He's 3 days old. I don't want to raise him like a pet, but I can't enter the pen without him running around me and seemingly wanting to play. I just read the 5 pages of "Raising Bulls" but nobody went into detail about bull calfs. How do I break him of wanting to act like I'm his momma...

Thanks to all for your quick responces. As soon as I can I will get some photos up here of "Cocoa". Our 10 year old son says that even if the calf is going to be food he still needs a name. :kid: What could I say?

    Couple of questions

Picked up a one day old brangus cross bull calf today. Rancher said the cow went down after birth. He has been given colustrom since yesterday and seems to be in good health. I am getting conflicting advice on how often to bottle feed him. One says twice to three times day. Another says every 2...

    Buying at an auction???

So, if all we wanted was to make ground meat out of them then there really wouldn't be any thing wrong with one, right? You see, we are looking for the best way to feed more people for less money. If we could buy these for ground meat and chile meat then it would cost less than say, going to the...
