    charolais heifers

Don't forget...these are heifers. Whatever you decide, make sure it's easy calving.

Spring Pictures (Which pair do you like better)

I don't like either of them! Just let me know when I can come take them off of your hands so you don't have to keep looking at those sad sacks :D Seriously though, they are very nice!

    Blue eyed calf

Had quite a few shorthorn cross show calves like this.

    Twins again 3 times????????

Bull has less to do with twins than the female. All the bull is responsible is for fertilizing the egg. Sounds to me like the cow releases multiple eggs.

    You like red??

You caught that huh? I like your attention to detail, but just imagine how weird I looked sitting in the library at the college drawing a penis on this heifer..... :compute: I was just trying to get it done fast before anyone saw me and thought I was a perv.

Which Simmental bulls do you think produce the best females and why? I know this question is very vague, but I would like everyone's opinions. Thanks

New Study, 30 precent more likely to die early

  Who conducted this study? The Pork council?  It's kind of like Coke putting out reports that Pepsi leads to higher death rates. (I'm sure that really didn't happen), but it makes you wonder who is conducting the studies. :???:

    60% weaning weight

First of all, I'm not disagreeing with the fact that this cow is in poor condition and that most of the energy went into the calf! That is obvious! I'm simply seeking out more knowledge and trying to learn all that I can, therefore, I inquire when I see, hear, or read something that is...

    Age of sire?

A friend of mine back in high school had just bought a weaned heifer and weaned bull calf to show in FFA. Bull calf was 6 months old and heifer was 7 months old. She calved at 16 months old.

    60% weaning weight

Would you mind telling me where you got this information? Granted, higher uptake of calories generally leads to increased fat storage, I'm not sure that calorie intake and weight are exactly a direct proportionality, but rather lends itself to variable change as many animals have different...

    Genetic Engineering High School Project

I would post this in the "dairy board", you might have better luck getting a response.

    thin heifer

Here lies your problem. Did you take the sellers word that he or she had the heifer checked by a vet, or did you actually have her checked yourself? Many people will say what it takes to get rid of a sick animal.

    What would you do

    Suitable breed for mountain farm?

Unfortunately you will get biased opinions on which breed to use from people on these boards. While some of the suggested cattle might be right for your operation, I would also suggest that you contact the packers and see which cattle they prefer and which breed you will get a premium for. I...

    Herd Bull New Pictures

Cowgirl, the owner of this animal requested an evaluation based upon the pictures that were given, (You are correct on that point), but they have not requested people to make "inferences". From the pictures provided, an accurate assessment of the animal as being "open shouldered" cannot be...

    Herd Bull New Pictures

Kudos Knersie, Very big difference in "open-shouldered" and "coarse shouldered".
