    Hehe I Have A Problem!

A guy I know ties plastic bags to their feet to get them used to their feet being messed with... I don't know how effective it is, but it seems to work for him.

    Dog afraid of cattle?

My Sheltie's terrified of cattle....and for good reason! My heifer caught him under his belly with her nose once and threw him into the fence. Poor dog...

    Heifer Losing Weight

Well, it really does seem to be coccida. We're checking into that possibility. Fortunately, we don't have any other cattle, so we aren't worried about that. Thank you ALL for your help.

    Heifer Losing Weight

I think you misunderstood. I've had this heifer since last June. She's a 14-month-old Red Brangus and has lived pretty much her entire life alone. She actually dislikes being around other animals. I only just brought her back from the HLSR (where she was stalled next to the questionable...

    Heifer Losing Weight

Less than a week after bringing her home from Houston, I have begun to worry about my heifer. She's losing a LOT of weight and has bad diarrhea and it's scaring me. I dewormed her this morning, thinking that might be the cause, but what REALLY concerns me is that, while we were in Houston, she...

    Heifer

Not to mention, I would REALLY hope any adult who had spent any amount of time raising cattle would know that is is spelled "Cattleman" and not "Cattlemen". Then again, I could be wrong.

    At the HLSR

Well, we took my Red Brangus heifer to the HLSR and she got fifth in her class both days....and both days she was the only IBBA heifer there, all the others were American Red Brangus. The judge liked them for their thicker build and hair, but I don't think Brangus are supposed to look like...

    Show Calf Opinions

I know how that is. I'm on the flagline, too and they reaaaally pressure you into these competitions. They tend to do underhanded things like make attendance a double test-grade or something similar. It's hard to schedule everything around band competitions and practice, FFA, academics....But I...

    Simmy Heifer

How to stop heifer from butting

I had the exact same problem with mine. She would get EXTREMELY aggressive and knock me around...my dad broke a piece of PVC over her head once and she stopped. A light hit or a fly swatter wouldn't have done anything...just hit her hard whenever she does it....she'll stop.

    Dewormer?

It's best to not keep using the same thing over and over again. Mix it up a bit and switch between several different types.

    First time to show...Heifer shopping.

I live in South Texas, so I understand your issues with the climate, but if that's your only reason for choosing a Brahman, you might also consider another American Breed. However, you should be fine with a Brangus or a Beefmaster or a Santa Gertrudis, etc.

Help! Going to my very first show

Thanks for sharing....I haven't ever given her those treats, but I do the exact same thing with range cubes...she loves them!

Help! Going to my very first show

Thank you all so much! I don't think a fan will be necessary, since she's already put up with the Texas heat all summer without one... I'm showing at two different shows next weekend, a show Saturday in Deer Park and another on Sunday in LaPorte

Help! Going to my very first show

I'm planning on taking my heifer to our very first show next week, but I'm not sure exactly what all I need to have for the show. I've talked to my Ag teacher, but, although she knows everything there is to know about pigs, her knowledge of cattle is pretty limited So, any help is DEFINITELY...

Brangus Heifer *Updated with new pics*

This halter is just for leading her. We are planning on getting a leather show halter for the show. Any suggestions for it are appreciated. :D

Brangus Heifer *Updated with new pics*

Why do you think it's too big? It is a calf size halter and is on the last hole. What are the advantages of a rope halter? Thanks for the response . :-)
