    Calf That Is Not Growing

The problem heifer is now looking no different than the animals that were born this spring, she is still suckling at is still on her mom and is almost 11 months old. Her mom was bred this spring, we think, and we plan to wean her in about 1 month. She is a little bit healthier and she has not...

    Calf That Is Not Growing

This morning we saw/took a picture of the calf nursing so I will post that later on, but the calf nursed for 5 minutes straight so we took that as a good sign, and I don't think that the mom is dry because her bag has always been that small, and we have seen her milk let down when she does not...

    3 bred heifer photos

It must be cold where you live because your animals are quite wooly, but, your animals are all very pretty, I think that #1 is the best.

    Some longhorn-cross calves

The little calves are quite cute, and I am a bit surprised by the looks of the 4 months old, she is very pretty.

    Guernsey Murray Grey Cross

BB Jewel, the heifer, has always been my friend. She is the guernsey murray grey heifer that was born 4-23-12. This is when I knew that we would never want to spend to much time apart:

Thanks, that is what I want to know, but I do want to make sure that there is not another way.

    Guernsey Murray Grey Cross

The two guernsey murray grey crosses still live on our ranch, for now. The heifer, BB Jewel, was born 4-23-12, and the so DS, was born on 4-1-11. Sadly, the mother did not breed back and she had to go last year. BB Jewel will probably stay in our herd for a LONG time since she has quite the...

    Calf That Is Not Growing

So I did get three pictures today, and I am VERY sorry that they are not the best pictures. This first one is of the problem calf, she is nine months old: This next one is a comparison of a three month old bull (front) and then her in the back: This final one is of the mother, Suzanne:

    Calf That Is Not Growing

Because it is easier and we only have about 20 mother cows, we like to only have a calving season in the spring. But, we do breed out heifers at about 18 months, so that they will calve when they are about 2 1/2 years old. We will have our heifers calve in the early fall and then breed them back...

    Calf That Is Not Growing

The picture was taken on 10/20/12, so the calves were again about three weeks old. I will try to go out and get a picture of them right now, so sorry if the picture quality is bad.

    Calf That Is Not Growing

No, no, no. I must have phrased it incorrectly, they are both first calf heifers at 2 1/2 years old. The other mom that has the smaller calf but that is still growing has an UTTER that looks like it is 5-6 years old. But the mom that is having this issue you have already seen above.

    Calf That Is Not Growing

We thought that the reason that these moms had this connection because after being bought in Oklahoma at a yearling, and had never really spent a day without each other.

    WANTED: Jersey Semen

We have over 800 acres and only 50 animals, so yes, I know that she will lactate on good grass since our place is way under stocked, and second I know that she has not had a calf yet since my brother gave her to me two Christmas's ago when she was about 3 months old.

    Calf That Is Not Growing

Yeah, maybe, but the other mom is a first calf heifer and has a 5-6 year old bag so she should be producing, but I know that a big bag is not a sign of milk capacity.

    WANTED: Jersey Semen

I want grass-fed genetics, so that they do not have to be fed on grain, most of the current day animals are NOT on grass, and even with being grain fed, they are NOT filled out. The jersey on top has NEVER tasted grain a single day in her life, and she shows pins, but it is not that obvious. I...

    Calf That Is Not Growing

The bull and the heifer stopped growing at around 3 weeks old like I said before, but the bull calf also was slowly growing, but he still was. He now looks like 7 months old, instead of nine, and his mom is the shortest in our herd, so that could also be partly from him. So yes, but these two...

    Calf That Is Not Growing

This is the second time that I have tried to post time comment, so sorry if it comes up twice, but: I will attach a picture of the cow and her calf. There is another one that is also nursing because she and another mom would allow ONLY their calves to poach on each other. The one on the right is...
