    Cattle feeding.

Ok fair enough. Like my cattle are in great shape and all but I'm just starting to wonder if I could cut back a lil. The situation I'm in a dollar saved in one place goes to purchase something else. If I was feeding too much and could cut back a bit that's money I could put into more land...

    Cattle feeding.

That's what I was thinking too. I can ho out and buy manufactured pellet feeds but that has skyrocketed to $25 /25kg sack here. The cows wouldn't take long to go through a sack of that lol. We have been wondering if there could be a cheaper way to add mineral to the brewers grain to help them...

    Cattle feeding.

Yes it's the 800 - 1000 lbs round bale. Byt it's not great hay wild grasses and Timothy. I'm in Newfoundland canada but I'm always watching what hay costs are in other areas and nova scotia hay costs seem to be around 40-60 a round bale.

    Cattle feeding.

I feel like that too. I'm wondering if I'm feeding too much. My little 14 head herd eats a 800-1000lbs round bald in about 5-6 days plus the brewers grain.

    Cattle feeding.

Hey guys. So these days I find myself asking the question on how much do I need to be feeding my cattle. I have a herd of cows and calves. All different breeds as well but mostly everyone is beef dairy cross or all beef cross. So I have a contract with a local craft brewery and I get all their...

    Vegetable feeding

Thanks guys for your response. But to answer your question. My dad runs a small veggies farm. Growing lots of things from carrots to potatoes to cabbage and so on. So I got a supply in the fall of the garbage veg and it's just something to offset some feed cost. I'm feeding approx 2 gallons each...

    Vegetable feeding

Hey everyone. So wondering about vegetable feeding. When we only had 2 or 3 cows we always feed them chopped veggies with their grain and hay. Now I have 10 head altogether and finding chopping this much veg a bit time consuming. What are anyone with larger numbers doing to make the veg smaller...

    Valbazen??

So I have had a look at their noses. All the calves had a sweaty looking nose. Like lil bubbles of water on their noses. So I'm only assuming they all may have a touch of lung worm. Keep in mind I stable all winter. Also the since the first dose of valbazen I have noticed the heifers manure...

    Valbazen??

Perfect guys thanks much. I'll have a look at everyone tonight. Now how much per lbs to give this? Also I've notice her manure getting better. When I gave her the first dose I noticed she has horse like manure and now after 4 or 5 days I've noticed her manure improving.

    Brewers grain cow pie

He shouldn't have any trouble in regards to manure size. I honestly love having it. To start off I can get it for free. I have a dairy beef cross cow that has been raising 2 calves all summer and has kept up great condition. These 2 calves are fat lil puddins too. There's alot of articles out...

    Implants

My vet is actually all for it. She brought it up to me. I've been a drug free kinda guy but with a lil research I noticed a lot are doing it. I run a high fiber and high protein diet but if I could make a much better marble beef and a fatter healthier cows that would be nice. For example i just...

    Brewers grain cow pie

Hey guys. I have been feeding brewers grain for over a year now. Pack that **** to them!! Its higher in protein but also higher in fiber. Because the higher fiber it will keep their poop firm. But when the dams calf there will be tons of milk. I feed mostly second cut round and brewers grain n...

    Fighting pneumonia

Hey everyone. Thanks for all your advise. But the lil girl didn't make it. I definitely learned my lesson with calf health and all that. I have had grafted calves 2 years in a row now and that has worked out. But those lil buggers always get pneumonia never my beef calves. This obviously has...

    Tiny newborn

Last year my oldest cow had a premie or at least I think she did. I wasn't sure on the date she was bred due to a community pasture. But that poor lil heifer didn't make it. I lost her at exactly 2 weeks old. It was my first calf I lost in my few short years raising beef. I keep her as the...

    Fighting pneumonia

Lol Steve the nurse cow is getting culled. The only reason she's being a nurse cow is she had a still born this year. The calfs mom is a good cow never have any trouble with her. I maybe part to blame as I get (2-3 ) 2day old dairy bull calves to raise every year and sell. Always have trouble...
