    A good day.

Never seen a cat ride an ATV like that. 😬

    3/4 Ton Truck Recommendation

I like the idea of the 6.8 but haven't seen much on them yet. Our next gas rig will be the 6.8 or 7.3. I started a thread on picking up a set of cows with the 6.2 and how it handled a fairly long trip, not sure how to link it though. On a side note I know the diesel is 10-12 k more but think...

    3/4 Ton Truck Recommendation

We've got a 2019 F350 with the 6.2 for farm use and it has been great. Fuel milage is terrible though.

    Cattle Vaccines/mRNA

I thought this was a good read on MLV, Killed, and mNRA vaccines. https://utbeef.tennessee.edu/livestock-health-mrna-vaccine-vs-conventional-vaccines/

    Cull hard

Cull cows bring good money right now but replacing them is expensive too. At the end of the day it's no different than any other year.

    What could go wrong?

This is what not having a defined breeding season gets you. I always wonder how many baby calves don't get colostrum and die because last years calf got it. Not saying it's the case here but it makes you wonder.

    Be careful with those guns.....

That's terrible. It also gives more ammo to the anti gun crowd. Teach your kids & grandkids gun safety you never know what they're watching these days.

    Another round

Those are nice calves. Great pics

    Jordan Valley Big Loop

Sounds like a good time. I would really enjoy something like that. All we have here are team ropings and a few ranch rodeos.

    No Till Drill

Thinking common Bermuda, Dallis grass, crab grass, and Bahia grass. Maybe some winter grass too. Wanting to overseed some poorer pastures.

    Ivermectin wormer pour on

That's what we've been looking at. Are they effective? We get flys something terrible from May to September.

    Ivermectin wormer pour on

The only thing I've found that actually looks like it would work and be fairly maintenence free is the Prairie Phoenix Cattle Oiler. The cost right at 2 grand so been a little reluctant on it because I'd need a couple of them. The insecticide/oil is fairly inexpensive for them.

    Ivermectin wormer pour on

How long is the Ultra Sabre lasting. We fight flies every year.

    No Till Drill

I know this is an old thread but has anyone had any experience with these No Till Seeders? Found an NTS2511 today at a decent price thinking it'll do the trick but it'd be nice to know beforehand.

    Ivermectin wormer pour on

We do both injectable and pour on in the spring and a pour on in the fall. The pour on is cheap and easy but I always wonder how effective it is. I feel better after reading @farmerjan post.

    Feeding calves for weaning/ holding

I wonder if the barns selling calves in groups has to do with the size of the ranches in the area. Lots of ranches under 40 hd in Texas. Also most in our area calve year around. I'd guess most ranches North of Oklahoma have a defined breeding season so they can sell in tighter groups. I'm just...

    Feeding calves for weaning/ holding

Here in my area of NE Texas there are 6 salebarns within an hour drive of my house. A couple have 2 sales a week but most have 1 sale. I'd guess the sales have 700-1,200 each week. Most of the time they seem to start at noon and end around 5-6 pm. Every now and then they'll have a big run and...

    Feeding calves for weaning/ holding

All the barns here sell as singles unless it's a special sale.

    Weaning calves early?

Are you giving the calves hay or do they have plenty of ruffage to go with 16-18% feed? We feed the yearlings and cows the same feed so tried 18% and it scoured the yearlings and had them eating the bark off a tree. Because of this we feed everything 14% feed. The yearlings get very little if...

    Feeding calves for weaning/ holding

Are you selling the big calves privately as freezer beef or selling to packers? How long are y'all feeding these calves and how old are they at finished weight? I see you said 12 months but not sure if that's age or time on feed. I don’t think we could get a calf to 1,350# at 12 months of age...
