    Dairy influence?

Longhorns and Corrs come in every color and coat pattern there is in the cattle world. Beefmasters are part Brahma....red and grey, part Hereford,, and part shorthorn, which also comes in a variety of colors and patterns. So, I am guessing this calf probably was sired by the beefmaster.

Sounds more like rustlers to me. Never seen a coyote that could eat hjde, bones, skull, hooves etc. If not rustlers, then alien abduction?!!

Cool website, Judy. When I was in college (I majored in Fish & Wildlife Biology) I was involved with some studies conducted by the school regarding declining rabbit and quail populations in Ga. The popular belief by the public was that it was cased by the predators they had evolved with and...

@MurraysMutts , why don't you PM @gizmom ? Find out what she has that you could get, and how much he is. You can look at bulls online and go to every sale in the country, but you will never find a bull better than , probably not even as good as , hers. Get her to give you a price, then you'd...

A ways to green grass yet.

People have already baled their 1st cutting fescue hay around here. I will cut the bermuda horse hay for the 1st time in about 2-3 weeks. We had a cold snap Sun- Tues up here. Blackberry winter. Lows around 40 and highs barely making 60, but the high today will be 79! This will probably be our...

Red angus or red baldie heifers?

@fnfarms1, I think @simme has 2 bulls, brothers to those 2 that @ClinchValley86 and @kenny thomas bought from him last year. I think he said he was weaning them in July? They would make excellent terminal sires over those red Ang/Herf red baldies. He posted pics of them on another thread. I...

Red angus or red baldie heifers?

Watch this video on heterosis in beef cattle by the Univ of Iowa. At about 11:20, they put up a chart, and he explains it well, that shows what breeds have a lot of DNA in commom ( all Continentals do) . Hereford and Angus are further apart than any other bos taurus breeds. That cross yields...

I think that he was implying that he wouldn't 100% guarantee those bulls to be sterile.

No, the Brahma wasn't. He is in the videos on their FB page. And none of the 2 black ones or the BWF Simm that didn't pass were in bad shape.

I dunno. I watched them do the Char and they never could get him to ejaculate. The vet told me and others standing around: " Hell, if y'all was to grab me and put me in a headlock, and stick an electrode up my butt, with all of these people standing around watching talking, I doubt I could "do...

No, they stuck the electric prod up their butts and collected there while they had them in the chute. I watched them test the Char and the Brahma. The vet and his techs just kinda shrugged it off. They said it was just the environment...that both had a pen full of calves there. 5 of the 8...

I thought about it, but in person she is a lot skinnier than she looks in those pics. Plus, they had the Char bull she was bred to there as well. He had horns to rival a Corr. He was 2100 lbs, and even at that, he was near as thin as she was. So no telling how big the calf would be. I went...

Actually there are Black Herefords that are 7/8th, 5/16ths, and more...Hereford. As much or more Hereford, as pb Simms are Simm. To be a registered Black Hereford, it must be 5/8ths or more Hereford, and 3/8ths or less Angus. You are right about the black baldies. A black baldy is... or...

Turned out she was 6 mos bred, not 4. Bred to a Char bull. Weighed a little over 700 lbs.. . Very tall for a Jersey, should have weighed 1000. She was 4 years old, though. Sold for $1050. Her body condition plus being bred to a Char...I let her pass.

Sorry to hear about your wife. Hope the tests come out good. I am headed out here in a minute, I will let you know if there is something you can use at a good price. How far are you from Ft Payne? Someone form that sale will most likely be there. Might be a good way to get one over to you if we...
