I haven’t got my meadows cleaned off yet. Too wet

I was out at my ranch in Coleman county last week, we went to the sale and longhorn cows were bringing over $1/lb. I went to Brenham last Friday, and they were bringing the same.

My granddaughters jersey girls. One has a beefmaster calf, the other a red angus calf, the black calf was grafted, he nurses on both cows.

Being in the business my whole life, it was hard to load most of them cows, because they were good. We bought most of these two summers ago, when everyone was thinning out their herds, and didn’t pay much for them.

Just the business we’re in. Buy and sell.

Personally, I believe it’s better for you than vegetable oil. I haven’t cooked any out for years, but it use to be a way of life for us. I do buy lard from the store.

The bred cows sold real good, as much as some pairs.

Our cattle done pretty good that we sold Tuesday. Pairs they split that had bigger calves brought 33-$3,400. Pairs they kept together brought up to $2,600 Two calves were born at the barn, we started to take them back home but a guy offered us $1,850/pair so we took it, they were really nice...

I saw some young bulls sell yesterday through the ring by the head. They guaranteed them but didn’t say anything about papers. One Charolais two black angus, they sold for about $2k, I wasn’t impressed with them.

We are selling 32 pairs and 28 bred cows tomorrow in Bryan Texas. I hated to load them up, they are really nice cows, but that’s the business we’re in.

I had to buy a Hereford bull because my little granddaughter watched the rare breed. His name is vindicator.
