About 2 miles. Depending on the stand used for a test, we either rattle or don't hear it at all. When we moved here, it sounded like a muffled bowling alley. They upped the game and now everything shakes on the house for some tests. But of course, "it isn't causing any damage "🙄. Cows don’t...

Elon’s toy in McGregor. One went boom a couple weeks ago…took out one of the 3 stands. Seems to have been the loudest one (for us) that was damaged 😁

    Fuzzy yearling steer

Well, totally anecdotal, but I poured him yesterday and he was already seeming to be grazing more enthusiastically this morning, while the others were still waking up.

    Milking a hereford for profit?

To legally sell milk for human use you need a lot of documentation and licensing. If you don’t milk daily, she’ll dry up.

    Fuzzy yearling steer

I’m eating him, not showing. Was just getting help with genetics vs issue. I have no desire to shave a steer

    Fuzzy yearling steer

    Doing it as we speak.

    Fuzzy yearling steer

Butcher in November/December, unless he needs more time than that-processor has openings. I'll deworm him again, none of the others have this issue, just him. Poor gene combination I suppose. All on same pasture and feed are BCS 5, if not fat. Won't use this sire again-might not be best suited...

    Fuzzy yearling steer

He definitely seems to not tolerate the heat as well as my blacks do, but they have more brangus in them. He has more Angus.

    Fuzzy yearling steer

I have a home-raised steer that is just not shedding his calf fuzz. AI sire, so not sure exactly how the sire does in warm weather, but dam didn’t slick off well until second summer. Of course, now summer heat and humidity is coming, so of course, he isn’t gaining as well as I would like. He was...

    Where is the end?

Seeing these prices really makes me wonder how anyone feeding-especially the lightweights-makes anything on the back end. When you can buy a bred for a little over the price of a stocker or feeder….makes me want to not have to buy anything for the next 2 years. I know I’ll have to, though, if I...

    Tornados

@greybeard did you get hit? My cousin in Temple had some damage, lots of damage in Temple in other areas. Hadn’t seen a green sky like that in a while

    Processing trouble question

Big terminal stock shows do DNA testing of carcasses, but that involves large sums of $$$. You would have to have a lot of foresight to do that for a local beef processor. Heck, most don’t even weigh the animals when you drop off, and most dropper-offers don’t get a live weight before taking one in…

    Some young culls

Live weight is 960, not a lot of waste with air space under her belly. I’ll update with carcass info

    Young heifer bred

Were the calves from the cows big or do you have hope for an easy calving for this heifer?

    Some young culls

Those look like ribeyes and the packages look boneless

    Some young culls

They remove the spine-affects tbones primarily (which changes them into amazing filets and NYS)
