    Cherry tree leaves?

last fall I just got done dozing around 10 acres.. turned the cows out in that field b/c I didn't even think about it. About 15 cows RAN, halfway across the field right to a dozed pile, and found a single cherry tree and start munching down. I only had a can of PB blaster with me so I...

Baler Belt Wrapped on lower Roller

Is it a driven roller? If so, taking the chain off that drives it so it can turn freely may help.

Post a pic of your bull

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "some" breeds' newborns aren't born with the DB, it develops later?? Seems like I was told that many years ago.

Post a pic of your bull

I would agree on that. He might have no myostatin mutation, so not double muscled. At least his sire isn't a carrier to my knowledge. We had a lim bull, which had at least one copy of myostatin, but he was a completely different type of animal. Blondes as a breed aren't double muscled. They do...

New ( to me) use for Corriente Cattle

I kinda figured there was one of the Wagyu programs at play. He has probably fooled with Corrs before, and knows he can do better with them than with the kind of beef cow he'd get for $1500. He knows with the Corrs there will be no calving problems, no trouble getting bred back, no calves...

    First time haying

Hay usually dries fast here. If we are under high pressure systems, 90* and 15% humidity, my neighbors try to catch a little dew and bale in the early morning and quit by 11:00 or noon.

New ( to me) use for Corriente Cattle

@Warren Allison I think some of those wagyu bull programs pre-contract at a premium for calves no matter what cows they come out of to fill thier nation-wide demand for marketing-program-beef. Surprising he is willing to pay "fancy beef" prices for corriente cows. Maybe he knows/thinks the...

    Weaned fall calves

Around here there is a shortage of grazing calves. Prices are holding real steady. Come fall, I think there's gonna be another jump. And the bigger calves that have grazed all summer are going to be worth a lot as well.

    Feet

Was looking at our 5 year old bull’s feet the other day. I’ll admit I’m not an expert, and am learning about feet and legs the hard way but his claw shape look pretty good to me. Never been trimmed. They would be sold by pound instead being trimmed.

    Milking a hereford for profit?

The key word in your question is for profit. I doubt you will get a hereford to give enough milk to be profitable
