    Connealy. Maternal Made

Yes the ones that maintain good foot quality at 4 to 10 years of age are the ones to be using. I will use younger bulls ai if I know the cows behind the bull. There are herds I will avoid entirely because of previous poor foot experiences. It’s a multigenerational fix once the problem exists so...

    Connealy. Maternal Made

I don’t disagree at all but there are some good footed Angus out there. Let your eyes be the judge. Most breeders i know will send pictures if you ask.

    Connealy. Maternal Made

I think AAA would tell you they already have done all of that. I think feet are a harder fix than either disposition or udders as sometimes problems aren’t realized till animal is 4 to 6 years of age and environment is a rather large factor whether the problem is presented. The problem I see...

    Connealy. Maternal Made

How true. Go through any semen catalog and they all have good feet. It’s the buzzword of the day it seems. I think most of the AI companies have treated their beef bulls like dairy bulls and trimmed their feet regularly. In the process they created some real foot killers.

    Connealy. Maternal Made

No personal experience with the bull. Used his maternal grand sire back in the day. Likely some of poorest feet the Angus breed has ever seen. Fertility was good though.

    Timed AI most recent trends?

That’s exactly what we are doing. We will actually split ours into two groups and start one group five days ahead of the other. The once that don’t settle ai will be slightly more strung out for the clean up bulls. The cows we are doing will be gnrh day 1 and pg day 7 or 8 and breed in heat.

Yes we used Architect on the 7861 daughters and all have calved unassisted to this point. Our daughter does the ear tagging and she thought that the mating added a touch of bone compared to our average. Our biggest group of 7861 daughters get bred this spring and I think we will mate them all...

    Cow-Calf pics

I will see if I can get a couple of pics if the 7861 daughters that have calved. They are very nice to be around. The disposition after calving is outstanding. The old bull is set to see his 7th breeding season this summer. Never had or needed to have his feet trimmed. Maternal calving ease will...

    Semen for 24

All of the yearling Right Time daughters will get bred that way this season.

    Semen for 24

I think he will keep you out of the ditch. Good feet, quiet disposition and the cows behind him on both sides of the pedigree are solid producers. We calved about 35 heifers to him last spring and were pleased with the calving ease. We used him again this year and will use him in 24. Too many...

    Semen for 24

I am glad you like your Right Time calves. I attended Spickler North production sale in December. I thought the 7861 sons there displayed all of the positive traits he possesses quite well. I even bought a son to add to the bull battery here. To this point the feedback from those who used him...

Nice looking pairs. If you want to see him in person Right Time 7861 will be at World West for the Montana Angus tour in September. At least that was the plan a month or so ago. He was busy servicing cows in North Dakota. Spicklers are expecting him to sire 60 plus calves naturally once again.

What AI sires progeny are you impressed with? Which are you disappointed in?

It will be interesting to see how your Right Time progeny pap test. You are not the only Wyoming breeder to use him that is pap testing. So there should be enough data to get an accurate feel of using him at elevation. His calves are quite consistent and I do expect he will be replaced by a son...

    Spring Breeding, What's Everyone Using?

I do think the Architect daughters will be a little bit easier to maintain than the numbers might indicate. His mother is a really nice cow. Not extreme in any way. He will see heavy use since SAV bought breeding possession this Spring. The calves we have on the ground here are good. Heifers...
