What are the going lease rates for pasture?

Millionaires today are likely to be more ideological and not want cows. Heard of that happening particularly in Charlottesville I've been trying to rent for some time. Old names and people are paying 40/acre mostly and beating the land up and invest nothing in infrastructure. Land owners are...

    ATV

I remember buying our ATV, a 90s Yamaha Big Bear, five years back. I thought it was such a luxury to spend 1700 when I could walk or use the pickup. It's been some of the best investments, we use it all of the time. Side by sides are crazy expensive, but I've never owned one. One neighbor...

Dealer stated that as well, he is an older fellow and saw a lot ship in the 90s.

    Tractor tire size change

Dealer thinks that, based on serial number, it might be, or someone pieced it together as it points to a 2WD 7740. However I see the "FWD Factor" on the tag, so that doesnt make sense.

    Tractor tire size change

Appreciate your input. Ill try to dig up specs on the current tires. So buy new fronts and try to scrounge some old 20.4x38s for the rears?

    Tractor tire size change

Rainy weather and I am getting back to this. I found out the fwd ratio 1.358. Using formula for front tire lead (front rolling circumference * ratio)/rear rolling circumference, and I picked BKT Alliance radials for comparison 23.1x34 is 0.1% 18.4x38 is 5.8% 20.8-38s is -1.1%. All of these...

    Calhoun sale 5-07

Apologies on delay it's the Spring time hustle. I thought cow prices were reasonable, a few calves were separated out they fetched 800. Had a few red polls, looking back should have bought them.

Best Cattle Crosses For Unassisted Calving

Appreciate your updates as a lot of folks ask questions and go away. Glad you are staying in the black, I hear so many folk talking about losing money farming but they are also spending big money on equipment.

    Fools rush in

A fool and his money... Have to admit that auctions make it hard to be wise It's not only the auctioneer but the talk around the food table from the other "buyers".

    Fools rush in

There is this image of the honest upright American farmer, which by and large is fairly true. Not many want to live this lifestyle. But the folks selling to the farmer seem to attract a lot of schemers and frauds. I got burned myself a couple times. This problem is all over agriculture. I...

    Summer weather predictions

    Tractor tire size change

Appreciate the responses. I've heard horror stories of tearing out rears and trans. I just dumped 6k into this 8240 because it needed a main hydraulic pump and worse the hydraulic line for the clutch blew and it needed to be split. We had a series of expenses of late a my wife is telling me to...

    Tractor tire size change

I don't have physical copy of the owners manual but found this online and I can't find any tire combination specs listed in it. It does have the 23.1x34 tire listed but just states for four wheel drive tractors to "always install tires of the same make model and size as those removed". As I...

    Tractor tire size change

I have a Ford 8240 4WD with 23.1x34 rear tires and 14.9x28 front tires. They are well worn and I would also like to change out the rears to 18x38 or 20x38 as I have some 16x38 rims setting around. I have read all about keeping the front-rear ratio the same, so with either change I would be off...
