    Asking for a friend…….

Asked about Lute on a steer a while back and Buck said no. https://www.cattletoday.com/threads/lutalyse-adverse-effect.124763/

    Bo-Se

Mycoplasma? I had it in a steer last year but only one leg was a little swollen and arthritic.

Cow with badly swollen legs ?

Wow. I once had a cow with lymphosarcoma that had bulging eyes but didn't look like that.

    Large Animal Vets are gone

Well color me lucky! The large animal vet hospital we use is all of 20 minutes away. Went through a rough couple of years when one of the vets was killed by his own bull, then the owner wasn't doing as many farm calls (due to polio when he was a child). They hired a fabulous young vet and I...

    Mixing Permethrin and Carbaryl

You may also want to consider mineral with CTC as a preventative against anaplasmosis. Requires a VFD. I start using it a few weeks to a month prior to heavy tick season and continue until generally Oct/Nov.

    Mixing Permethrin and Carbaryl

I've mixed Permethrin with Prentox/PB0-8 at 7.4%, which is the equivalent of Fly Ban or Ultra Boss at 5%. Includes a gallon of corn oil and a little diesel. Ultra Sabre is 3 oz Lambda-cyhalothrin, 6oz PB0-8 and 1 gallon of corn oil and a little diesel.

Cow with badly swollen legs ?

I agree with hardware as a strong possibility. Coronary artery disease: think of little old ladies with their feet bulging out of their shoes. I've had my share of hardware and now every cow, retained heifer & bull gets a magnet as a prevention. That said, hardware can also be caused by a...

Getting up a down cow in the chute

Had a bull go down yesterday after his BSE. Not sure if he was traumatized or spent. Grabbed one of the vets OB sleeves and after the 2nd puff, he popped right up. That said, he just turned 3 and already 2000 lbs so I had to hold it over his nostrils (probably not OSHA approved but whatever).

    New type of bottle

Probably was me. I love it so much; I gave one of one of my vets that also has cattle and he said he'll never go back. It's worth every penny!

Bottle calf! Some say I'm crazy...

Good luck with it! Generally, contracted tendons straighten out on their own, especially if you work with the calf. You can apply splints (even getting creative with pool noodles), but that's for an extreme case. I've only had a few and gave them a shot of Vitamin B Complex for energy.

    Bottle feeding : how much

Sounds like you may be the new owner. I'd be tempted to text that pic to the vet because I suspect she needs antibiotics.

    Bottle feeding : how much

Could be just the pic but looks like she has a cloudy eye. At that age, sometimes it clears up on its own, but I'd at least take her temp, thoroughly check her out. 30 lbs. is tiny but big things come in small packages. Good luck - and good save!

    Castration Problem

Does it look like this? Yes, it will heal on its own, but you need to be diligent about fly spray if it's warm enough where you live. Hopefully, you also vaccinated for tetanus.

    Feed Through Fly Control.

Saw this in the Angus Beef Bulletin the other day. Altosid IGR XRB horn fly control bolus. It's a time-release bolus that is supposed to control the life cycle of horn flies for up to 195 days. Hmmm, I'm intrigued. Of course, you'll still have to spray or whatever you do for fly control but...

    Spooked heifer

In my world, she'd be on the list now.

    Robbed blind...

We used to have Orscheln Farm & Home until TCS bought it out last October. Not impressed! Very small selection and overpriced. We only get minerals, replacer, tubs, cubes, etc from our Co-Op's but if it's a weekend or after hours, I'll suck it up.

    Cattleman’s choice

I just use Fly Ban, which is 7.4% Permetrhrin & 7.4% and Piperonyl Butoxide.

    New type of bottle

It's similar to the Trusti Tuber that has a nipple attachment. And love the vent! Yeah, it's pricy, but the best by far IMO if you need to tube a calf. https://www.amazon.com/TRUSTI-Tuber-Starter-Pack-Antahi/dp/B07ZV8XH62?tag=cattletoday00-20

    Ear infection or obstruction?

Ear infection. Vet flushed it, got some gunk and gave her Excede. She's back to perky and bunky.
