Update here..... we left the heifer alone, on day 5 we saw several inches more that had came out....then today, 7th day it was completely gone!!!!! Thanks to all that replied!!!!!

This evenig we could see several inches that had passed since yesterday. I will check her again in the morning and if WILL call the vet!!!

We have a first time heifer that had a low birth weight calf saturday, she still has the placenta hanging. Will nature take its course, or do we need to have have vet look at it?? She had a really HUGE bag before she gave birth, stuck out her back legs, and her navel seemed to really hang low...

We are small potatoes too....24 moma's, 1 bull, 14 calves and 3 more expected in next few days. Add it all up and it comes to 42!!!!! I didnt even have to use a calculator :lol: :lol: :lol:

Beefy, glad to hear it was just the battery....saw where someone had posted to it this month wanting an update on what the problem was so I had to ask!!!!! Do you use simmental bulls? We love the way they look and grow sooooo fast!

Beefy, we didnt select his bull on his EPD's....the ranch we bought him from picked him out of about 6 others that were together. They said he should throw about 65 lb calves, they were and still do use the simmental bulls and angus/brangus mixed heifers and cows. We didnt get the EPD numbers...

she was sitting up and alert the first two days, but the 3rd day she had all four legs stretched out in front of her and laid flat out, couldnt raise head and eyes just rolled back. She never closed up in her back end either, stayed gapped open.......anyone ever had that happen before...
