Drill pipe has significant Wall thickness. the 4 1/4" pipe I used to be around was either .337 or .437. Very dense too. 16-20 lbs per foot. Even the smaller stuff would take a very long time to rust out. Much much longer than even a new cross tie or new utility pole.

Mat in the bottom of a chute or no?

The 1st 2-3 that go thru will deposit enough poop in the bottom that the mat will get slick quick. I put expanded metal in the bottom of mine. It rusted out pretty quick and caked up with manure anyway so I took it out. Out in the weather in a rainy climate and I just learned to deal with the...

Not sure that type spring would work very well. They are long and relatively heavy and even collapsed where the coils touch, they sag. Stretched to the max, they sag as well due to their own weight, or getting stretched out so much they either break or you end up with a 'sprung spring' that has...

What's it called when a chameleon can't change it's colors anymore? A reptile dysfunction. Which weighs more? 1 gallon of water or 1 gallon of butane? Water. Butane is a lighter fluid..

I had some like that, along the river boundary. Slowly got rid of them especially the wire gaps. I hated them, from the days of my youth. Trees worked ok ....... until a tree fell in the river and took the whole fence with it. (A minor point of contention (no pun intended) The barbed wire in...

There are also some kind of little steel thingie you put on the strand and twist it, then hook part of it back into the strand. I tried a couple of them. They worked - sort of but eventually straighten themselves back out and are useless. Jake's I think they were called.

I'll choose comfortable and under-educated. No plus to it. It (laziness and no drive to improve) is the root cause of their failure(s). All that other 'stuff' is just rationalizations/excuses.

Nevermind? (there's ways around a paywall.... ) " In June 2020, having used her life savings to buy back the failing roadside franchise that bears her family name, Stephanie Stuckey was in a Marion, Ark., parking lot in tears. The Stuckey's in front of her was beyond decrepit; it was...

Kmarts have been in trouble and serious decline for over 10 years. The last one I went into in Lufkin Texas in 2014 was dirty, lots of empty shelves and the AC was set way high for the middle of summer. Sears Holding had bought them out and really had no interest in keeping them going, since...

The rest of the story.. Back in July, I had recommended someone I knew to do the job for sister. (I had already moved West) A small company working out of their home but did good work. The original fence was to keep brother-in-law's hair sheep in and people out. He died just over a year ago...

Burma Shave signs were still popular when I traveled with my parents as a young teen back and forth from East Texas out to the Western part of Texas near Sweetwater. So was some kind of souvenir shop that had little Burma Shave type signs for miles before you got to it. "Treasures, Toys...

I used gripples on both barbed wire and high tensile barbless wire and really liked them. Yes, adds to the cost but handy as a shirt pocket if repairs are needed. But, IMO, the tool alone didn't really get the wire tight enough except as a temporary 'get the fence back up enough to hold 'em'...

1st thing I thought when I saw the terminal ends of the wire was that the post was eventually just going to twist around, clockwise (viewed from top) but I guess the wire isn't tight enough to cause that to happen. But, she did the best she could for a 75 yr old widow woman and brother ain't...
