Zoetis buys GeneSeek

Angus Australia gave us the two options for our genomics, Zoetus or Neogen, now they are owned by the one company AA has been talking to a big UK genomics company to provide the service to members to keep the competition real. From my experience with Zoetus here they bought out our smaller vaccine companies to give themselves a monopoly to the extent that they are the only company here doing horse vaccines for tetanus TT and TAT and most people my daughter knows don't vaccinate their horses foe tetanus nor give them a TAT if they cut themselves as the cost is prohibitive. I would not trust them.

I have used Neogen Geneseek for several years. All the paperwork and payments are done with the Simmental association. They supply one sheet of paper that I include with the samples that I mail to Neogen in Lincoln, NE. I do not receive any report from Neogen. Results go back to the simmental association and the dna enhanced epd's appear in the simmental database/registry. That is for the 50k test. For any add-on tests (color, polled, genetic defects, dilution, parentage verification), I get an email from the association with the results. So the dna lab work/testing is sort of transparent to me.

I don't know if it is related to the Zoetis purchase, but the simmental association charges for the 50k test recently decreased from $50 to $45. And the price for the add-on test came way down. Many of the add-ons are now $2 where they were around $20 previously.
