I think I've finally found some I like. Ya'll seen the 3 I got a little while back but I'll post some pics from then as well.
The Angus/Hereford cross is a good one. I really like the red baldies but black baldies are nice too. Picked up 4 more red baldy cows today. And one black brockle face. The reds are 4 and 5 yr olds. Bred for late summer/early fall calves, 4 and 5 months. I think one is 6 months bred! The black is a 5 yr old, 3 months bred as well.
Ran em thru the chute today and super super easy going just like my other 3. They sat for almost 24 hrs without food or water. Not terribly happy about that. They don't weigh cows at Fairview special sale, so I weighed em as a group. Averaged 1200lbs after that long period without anything to eat or drink. They'll gain 50lbs today I imagine.

And I think I'll keep this one for another season at least. Her calf is growing like a very bad weed!

Run with angus and char bulls was the story. They were kind of a last minute entry. They cut off consignments there but these were brought in after the sale was advertised. I didnt even know they were there until I got there and looked around.
When I saw em, I just made up my mind I was gonna take em home right then and there. 😆

I'm going to move to this type of cow and not be trading so much. I'm liable to be a little boring. I may even buy a high powered Red Angus or Sim bull for the next breeding. I don't want Howie the heifer bull breeding these. I want a better bull for the next crop.

It'll be interesting to see how Howie's calves develop. As much as I dislike CAB, it still remains a reality that a bull that throws black calves with get a premium and red calves with get discounted. Those are some nice cows from what I can see. If they wean good calves they will be worth keeping.

I've only got 3 heifer calves by him. My friend has 1. The other heifer we thought he bred, they think aborted or she's a non-breeder. That heifer was bought and raised on a bottle. Possible she's a free-martin. I'll sure keep updating tho.

Waiting on market report but they sold some Red Angus first calf heifer pairs Saturday at $6000/pr.
I thought it unusual as well. Reds usually sell back a little bit from blacks of same quality. (And they sold a LOT of black heifer pairs) But I've seen nice black baldies sell back from solid blacks as well. I guess it all depends on who's there buying on that particular day.

Edited to add.
I guess I missed this set of black heifer pairs at 6800!!

Number 3 calved and I'll be darned if it ain't one helluva big black heifer calf. No white at all. Hooves as big as coke bottles. 20oz bottles. Not the lil skinny glass bottles. Calf has to be 100lbs or so.
Here's mama... cool as a cucumber!

Here's that red baldy steer @Travlr likes. I like him too. Kinda wish I hadn't banded him.

There's his mama. She's around 1500lbs for reference.

@mwj plenty of rain here! They wouldn't fly the plane over that side of the pasture this year so it rougher but the abundance of grass is a blessing a for sure. I may buy a couple more cows to match soon. A couple more will be leaving this fall. The boring black 4 year old and her calf will be bill payers/trader or whatever ya wanna call em.

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments. It's been a long road to get here.

We have finally got some rain on all of our pastures. The rains have been hit or miss. Cows have took off now. Some of the calves are exploding. Thinking of creeping 60 days and selling off the cow.,
