Already kicking myself for not selling this cow last year. Cow got mastitis last year after she was dry. I thought she just lost that quarter and was hoping I could get one more calf out of her. Well I have a 3 week old calf of hers that’s extremely weak. I guess I have an infection in the cows udders and calf is sick. I tubed the calf electrolytes this morning and afternoon. I plan on taking the cow to the sale tomorrow and just bottle feeding the calf if it makes it. Played phone tag with my vet so haven’t got his opinion yet. Give 1 immodium AD anti diarrhea pill (PEOPLE KIND) and a 2nd one in 12 hours... Tube or feed with bottle... Add 1 raw beaten egg to the electrolytes or milk, for protein for the calf...
And I would take and wash off the butt and all so as to not invite flies or you will have maggots sooner than you can shake a stick .....

Thanks. I plan on getting her settled in the yard tomorrow once her mamma is gone. Going to tube her a small bottle tonight and I will steal an egg from my neighbors tomorrow. The Imodium will have to wait till tomorrow also. Can’t wait to give her a bath. She keep laying in poop so I get covered every time I get her up.
 
If her manure firms up some don't give the 2nd immodium... it will stop them up quite effectively... use your judgement as to how loose she is and how much she will want to drink a bottle... might be a bit of a fight for a day or 2 since she has been on the cow... but she is laying head up and looks halfway perky so a BIG plus in your favor.
 
I'm not really into magic, but my vet recommended probios probiotics for situations like this and when I used it a time or two, it was, indeed, just like magic. Don't tell my vet I said that. I still don't believe in magic.

Just tubed her a quart of milk replacer. Hopefully that’s not to much to mess her stomach more. I will do electrolytes and milk replacer in the morning. I will get some Imodium when I go to town after that.

Seems I always have problems on the weekends when it’s hardest to get ahold of the vet. Everything I have read about this situation is pretty much getting whatever treatment right into her gut is the best way to treat it. If I can get some probiotics soon I will try it. Calf is probably going to have a rough week if she makes it. Going to do everything I can to get her thru it.
 
make sure you give the milk and electrolytes at least 2 hours apart, also white, grey scours is usually nutritional, and keeping her warm clean and hydrated, probiotics is good , and I use human Kaopectate

probiotics come from tractor supply or amazon, not the vet
