Well we are in calving season I am pretty stoked about some of the calves we have on the ground. Yesterday we had a Coleman Charlo heifer arrive out of a SAV Blackbird 9057 daughter that was out of SAV Regard yep pretty stoked about that one. Today my F19 cow had a heifer out of Coleman EXT 6149. For those not familiar with that bull he had five flush sisters at Coleman that were as good as you could make a cow. This is one of his flush sisters. We purchased 6149 at a dispersal sale in Alabama as a two year old after seeing his sisters in production at Coleman. We had the bull collected and I plug him into the herd every year. I am getting short on semen now so heifer calves get me pretty excited.IMG_1268.jpegthe dam of the heifer is no slouch either she is out of a cow that made Pathfinder multiple times in our herd and worked in the herd until she was 15 years old and her sire is SAV Reign.

Another heifer I am excited about is out of Giz Emblynette G55 she is a Resource daughter out of Champion Hill Emblynette 8502 the sire of this heifer is SAV Anthem 0042 so this should make a replacement for sure. I sure love calving season!
 
Cousin Dave said he got some last week . So they were starting to dig peanuts 🥜. We finally got some last week but really need more . Ponds are low and creeks aren’t flowing. Need more pics of those pretty calves !

Gizmo Donna 310 is a natural daughter out of a cow we are currently flushing Coleman Donna 7422 we flushed her last month and got 11 embryos the bull I used was Coleman Resolve 310’s dire is Coleman Triumph

G55 is a Champion Hill Emblynette 8502 and SAV Resource daughter the calf is a heifer out of SAV Anthem
 
If I get a bull calf that weighs 90 to 100 pounds my bull customers don’t want him. It is a fine line I have to walk to keep the cattle in a slot that is marketable yet works for my program. I don’t like having calves in the 50 pounds range but 75 to 80 is perfect.

Not for me. That same 72 pound fall born calf in the south after a hot dry summer would be expected to weigh quite a bit more if born as a spring/winter calf in the colder north. If the calves are vigorous at birth and weigh good at weaning, all is good.

Yep we are in a drought here in Florida it has cooled off considerably we were in the 80’s today with 100% humidity but still not bad. The heat here has been brutal the kind that knocks calves out of the cows. That big old G55 cow was a whopping 60 pounds at birth two who’d pounds more than that knot she has lol
 
Hot dang the boss just sent me a text we have two more heifer calves on the ground the granddam of the 241 cow has a heifer out of SAV Grass Roots and F38 a SAV Abigale 913 daughter out of Rainfall just gave me my 4th heifer out of the 6149 bull that I started this thread talking about
