GAR Homefree son

I would say you are out of touch. Last year I went to Harrell Hereford bull sale. I didn't see anything bring less than $7,000 and the average was in the high $8,000's. Any bull selling in the $3,000's or less is just a bull.
We’ve been AI’ing for awhile because the bulls I like are above $10,000. I felt I could buy a lot of straws and live with a 60 percent conception rate.

Coleman (He’s worked for me since he was 16 and will be taking over) came me to this fall and said, “I don’t want to cut sone of these bull calves”. I was taken aback.

Then I thought about bull prices and how hard it might be for someone with 10-20 cows to afford these. I told him we should send some tissue samples in to Neogen.

We were surprised. We kept 8 to sell next spring. Just weaned and hauled calves and then two cows to weigh just for our information.

Two end of October bulls were 800 and 775 pounds. Cows were first calf heifers carrying a second calf and 1300/1120. Those are really great percent of cows body weight to calf weaning wt. !

These two were out of Hooks Galileo. We are really focused on handling these do they work easy for whoever buys them. They were really moderate birthweight. We haven’t pulled anything in over 6 years. We don’t have a calf scale but are really certain nothing ever goes over 80 lbs.

We aren’t sure where to price them but the other 6 have very similar numbers for wt per day of age (they are 1-2 months younger. A lot of maternal scores were really good and the growth and carcass scores as well.

My bigger point is these bulls are bringing a lot and I think there’s a spot to supply done with no papers to guys like Murray

You might know the Roses down on the Willapa Bay. They have been retaining ownership for decades. They use to feed their calves at C&B. When C&B went down to moved to using El Oro out of Moses Lake. Years ago they started keeping their best bulls. It started with you buy their bulls and they would buy your calves. I bought bulls from them for years. Great genetics and great bulls for very reasonable price. No papers but what commercial guy needs papers.
