    Canada Supplied Tainted Meat

Here's the deal. Ranchers, thus far, has been shown to cause one production day of contamination. ONE. That comes straight from the mouth of CFIA. The USDA increased border inspections have already been called off as a result of the investigations into similar establishments to Rancher's that...

    Canada Supplied Tainted Meat

The Cargill recalls so far have not been linked to Rancher's Beef in Alberta. In fact, the only recalls that have been linked were Topps. And that stems from just one production day at Rancher's Beef. At this point, the CFIA is unable to link any other of the E. coli contaminations to...

Thank you SO much. I will look them up shortly.

S.D. ranchers join lawsuit over mad cow disease

OK, I read through the complaint and I must say, the fact that increased envirionemntal destruction from trucks moving into the country is a little bit laughable. And I say that from having driven in the US between both borders and back again. There are convoys of Wal-mart trucks that an army...

    Canada Supplied Tainted Meat

Thanks - I'll do that. I had no idea CFIA or USDA relied upon industry self-testing. I mean... that's a disaster waiting to happen because it does only take one. Turns out, same concept for oil and gas rigs here in Saskatchewan. Though they must submit an expensive and thick paper...

    Canada Supplied Tainted Meat

I think it's fairly obvious it was all from the same place. Rancher's didn't have a huge capacity, did they? I mean compared to Cargill's Excel or Tyson's Lakeside? I wonder how much trim there was - for so much to be recalled, wouldn't that mean that the contamination was ongoing for some...

    Canada Supplied Tainted Meat

Well, seeing as our two biggest plants are owned by Cargill and Lakeside, I sure hope they don't discover variances between how they operate north and south of the border. I wonder if there wasn't quite a lot of slacking off or deliberate lessened quality at Rancher's before they shut down.

    Homewrecking Cattle

I think it's more a bit of a fear or a threat somehow - representative of the change in our lives (moving, new job). We met as a result of a mutual hobby that is a passion for the both of is, he probably fears that the cattle will detract from that somehow. With time, I am sure he will warm to...

S.D. ranchers join lawsuit over mad cow disease

As I understand it - the US does not permit SRM in cattle feed but does not have a ban as Canada does - thereby increasing the risk of feed not intended for cattle becoming contaminated with bone/meat meal? These SRM regulations are one gigantic PITA for Canadian producers - and disposal laws...

    Homewrecking Cattle

The homewrecking title was a little bit factitious. He generally likes animals but has no other interest in cattle other than seeing it on a plate. I suspect that he'll adapt and adjust - and all the tips have been helpful. We have two sons - one is totally into the idea and the other really...

    Homewrecking Cattle

Thanks all... food for thought. And I know, hobby farms are frowned upon. But not around here, at least with me. The local ranchers are pleased to see cattle related storeis making the paper at all and seem just fine with me wanting to go through the process hands-on myself. They've been...

    Homewrecking Cattle

We recently moved to a cattle town - I am a reporter and unexpectantly, I've sort of fallen in love with the ranching culture as a result of covering the industry in so much depth for the paper. I've registered a brand and plan to get one (don't laugh) in the spring. Well, one for now - I live...

    cattle Rule 2 media inquiry

Hello, I am a reporter from a small town Canadian newspaper in Saskatchewan. I've just moved here from another prairie province and I am not well versed in the cattle industry but trying to learn as much as possible in order to better serve my readers. I have a couple of background questions I...
