    Pasture Grass

Thanks for the replies. What kind of price per acre are we talking for the Bahia grass and te Klein grass? I was thinking Bahia prior to my post but reading the Klein grass information was interesting. I'm going to try and read a good bit more on each. Matt

    Pasture Grass

Given the choices we have today, if you were wanting to plant grass to cut for hay and graze in the black land of Texas, what would you plant? I would also like to add that I put low cost, and low maintance cost very high on my list. Is bermuda the only way to go? Opinions appreciated.

    Wild Mustard Question

I really appreciate your posts guys, cross_7 that is exactly what I was wondering about. My hope is that by shredding it and then trying to stay on top of it I can manage around it. This place is just shy of 300 acres so with what I am having to pay for it I cant afford to put much "extra" in...

    Wild Mustard Question

I know there is a post about this a few lines down but I don't have alfalfa and I didn't want to hijack that thread. I am about to lease some land in central Texas that has been used for cattle in the past and some wheat production but didn't have any or very few head on it the last few months...

    Toyota Flatbed

Bale buggy might be the way to go I do agree for the large 5x5 grass rolls. If I do it I am going to at the very least put air shocks on the rear.

    Toyota Flatbed

Yeah this would not be for long hauls but more just getting hay out of the lot and putting it in the pasture. The little truck gets 22mpg and with 4wd as light as it is I can go nearly anywhere and crawl around on top of everything. I live a 100 miles from my cows so I like driving a mileage...

    Toyota Flatbed

I was wondering if anyone on here has ever built a flatbed for a toyota tacoma or pickup as they were called before 95. I have one that I love for fuel mileage and manuverability but I would really like to flatbed it and put a hay spear on it. I was just wondering if anyone on here had ever...

What bull would you put with brangus cows

For fun I thought I would put up a picture of my bull and his first calf to hit the ground.

    Protein/Mineral Tubs

I know there has been some discussion here about protein tubs, I would like to hear what you look for in a quality tub. I have been buying from Producers, they were out this past weekend so I bought the 30-13 Rangeland with urea in it for $88 for the 225lbs. Im gonna be feeding this rice hay...

    Cattle For Sale

That is a sad sad deal. Am I the only person that feels a moral obligation to keep their cattle? This may be better discussed on a different topic but I just thought I would bring it up. I am not talking about throwing your money away and I completely understand the dollar and cents of...

    Cattle For Sale

She weighed 1145 and brought .64 a pound ended up with a check for $702. I paid $1050 for her last October, kinda depressing.

    Cattle For Sale

Caustic did you stick around long enough to see what those good cattle were bringing. I sent a high headed girl to the barn on Saturday and I am looking forward to seeing what she brought. She was the right kind but had some bad habits. I have two more open cows and some calves to ship here...

    Hay vs Cubes vs Feed

How often and how much cubes did you put out? I am torn right now between the milo and the rice stubble hay. I am not there everyday to feed these cows so they need to be able to sustain on the hay and some tubs for 3-5 days at a time. Last year they did great on grass hay and tubs but I am...

    Hay vs Cubes vs Feed

.14 Nitrates is what it was tested at and 6.2 CP by the lab at TAMU.

    Hay vs Cubes vs Feed

I found some milo hay that has been tested to have 6.5% protein and 14 nitrates. Could someone tell me if this is good enough to buy and feed as long as protein tubs are made available at all times. We have tubs out year around to help anyways. Matt
