    brafords

Checkout http://www.braford.org.au Brafords here in Australia have made an immense improvement over the past few years. They couldn't really compete to their maximum until they increased the Brahman content and improved the fleshing of the breed. good luck with your project Colin

    charolais

Good cattle, need to be conscious of calving problems, cracked up in our drought compared to our other breeds, need more feed than most breeds, they cross well with our Brahmans and South Devons, good cross over Angus then something else over that cross

    Weather report from Australia

Another stinking hot day here in Australia. Over 34C again thats over two weeks straight now. Some western areas of our state have had temps over 44C for two + weeks A storm went about 80ks east of us toward the coast, a breeze from that has helped tonight. Colin.

    Something New To Discuss

Number one for me was to buy my first Brahman Bull 35 years ago and see the benefits over our Hereford herd. Number two for me was the purchase of my first South Devon 14 years ago and to see their wonderful temperament and how well they cross with any breed.

    BEST CROSSES FOR BLACK BALDIES

Yes Brahmans do well in cold climates. I know Australia isn't as cold as the US or Canada. Brahman infused cattle are spreading further south into our cold areas each. These areas have experienced tough dry seasons which has bought the Bos Indicus breeds to the fore there. I still don't think...

    Black South Devon

A question for South Devon breeders who might look at this topic. What are the top black South Devon bulls in the US? I have three top black heifers that are grand daughters of Maple Leaf Black Bonus, need a good black bull to AI them to. If I can't find one I will join them to the darkest SD...

    Exhibiting Cattle.

Do many others on this board show their cattle at livestock shows or field days? I show my South Devons and Brahmans and soon my South Brahvons at about ten shows a year and have an open day on farm every year or two depending on the season. Here in Australia to win an interbreed award (this is...

What to breed with Reg. Herford Polled Bull 2year old

Good idea to go the Braford way. Here in Australia most Brafords are about 5/8 Brahman 3/8 Hereford. To have more Hereford you just cannot compete. The more Brahman the better especially in the hotter areas. Most Braford breeders here in Australia would never have 3/8 Brahman. Not enough to get...

South Devon bulls -- 2/28/04 sale (Texas)

Go along and have a look at South Devon they are top cattle with an enormous untapped future. You get extreme docility, good milking ability, growth rate way ahead of many breeds. They cross well with any breed. We breed pure South Devons and cross them over Angus,Hereford,Black Baldies,Brahman...

    Simbrah Genetics

Here in Australia all of your Brahman derived breeds ( apart from maybe Braford) have to come from a pure animal of whatever breed you desire to cross. For instance to breed a Simbrah you would need to have a pure Simmental and a pure Brahman as the first cross. you can't have say a pure...

    trend chaser

I agree silly willy. You don't get rid of black baldies. We use them to cross South Devon and Brahman over. they are great mothers. Run rings around the straight angus. Don't follow trends they can ruin you. One thing in the Angus favour they are good promoters. Colin
