Wind drift and ammo cost are the only gripes I have about that round. Out to 150-175 yds it's great on a calm day...any wind over 5mph and it might as well be dandelion fluff at any distance over 100 yds. It literally cuts woodchuck and rabbit size animals in half. 2600fps makes that little...

    aggressive mommas

I band and tag as soon as the calf is dried off. I expect my cows to understand the difference between "The Boss" banding and tagging and coyotes or bears. Any mama who can't figure out that distinction goes away in a hurry. I had a first calf heifer kill her calf once, more out of annoyance...

    Spray lime

Agritec liquid calcium (called Advanced Cal) works fantastic for us. First application 2 years ago on 300 acres raised average pH from 5.4 to 6.5, and did so very quickly as opposed to 6 months later with ag lime. Was going to hit it lightly again last year, but the pH was still mid 6's so...

    Banding Problem?

Same system I use. Cows and bulls are out on pasture 365 days/year. They never see the inside of a barn unless they are getting loaded. Calves drop like flies out on pasture typically from mid-April through June. I make my rounds during the calving season early morning and at dusk each day...
