    Leg Joint problems

We haven’t, and she is on the next trip. She’s an excellent red angus mama….it’s just that this is the second bull calf with this problem. It’s a bummer for sure. I have a few mention selenium deficiency, but he’s so young. We have the selenium blocks out….maybe he needs a shot of BoSe?

    Leg Joint problems

Can anyone help me with how to help this calf? His front legs seem bent, and his back legs have the bottom joint bending/rolling over. The back “driver’s side” leg seems to dangle. This is the 2nd calf from the same cow to have this problem. The other one died at about a year. It got to where...

    Hair loss in bottle calf

I have a 26 day old bottle calf in the barn and just yesterday when I went back for the evening feeding, I notice two bald patches on her nose and behind both her ears. Not round like ring worm, and not scaly or infected looking. I initially thought the ding bat had gotten her head stuck in...

    Twins having babies

I had twins born two years ago....both female....one red, one black. The black one was taken by mama, and the red one was rejected and bottle fed. Both are healthy two year old cows now. The black one had a calf last year, but we believe it was premature and it didn't survive. The red...

    Crippled Calf

I have a red angus bull calf that doesn't use his back right leg. It just kind of hangs there like it is too short to reach the ground. He spends most of his days laying down, and only gets up to move around when the herd moves, or he hears a corn bucket. He walks on his other 3 legs, but it...

    Bottle Calf Vaccinations?

I have two bottle fed calves in the barn...Both a little over 4 months old. What recommendations for vaccinations and when? I would like specific names if possible. These are my first babies, and I would like them properly vaccinated before I turn them out in the pasture. Thanks. One I know...
