Not sure if this is the right board but has anyone had any luck with keeping cows separated from rye grass by hot wire alone? I'm trying to decide if I need to put a barb wire fence up or if a 3 strand hot wire will suffice. The cattle will be turned in on the grass a couple days each week but the other time I need to make sure they stay put.

Thanks

Yes. This is exactly what electric fence is great far. As long as its not a property line. If the cows get through no big deal.
I use a single wire to cut my oat fields.
If this is a permanent situation you would be smart to put a permanent fence on your to do list.
