lol A friend of my mom's raises longhorns and her workers ride the steers and she said it was just like a horse with a little more patience/bruises. Start with saddling, biting and groundwork and build from there, but i think thats the first one I've ever seen trot on command and not start to buck :lol: . but it is rather pointless when you can get a broke horse for free nowadays... :?
 
Back in the 70s I had a cow that was broke to ride. Couldn;t find a saddle that would fit so I rode her with a bareback pad. Her bomey back and my boney butt made riding without it painful. I used a halter with a looped rope up either side for reins. Never could get a neckrein on her so I buggy reined her.
