i just bought a new steer and the other day when we let him out with my heifer and cow(who is still nursing her calf) i noticed him sucking on her... i know this can be somewhat normal but i've never ahd one do it before... we have two diffrent let outs for them to be in but one is a BIG grassy pasture and the other is just a walking pen w/ mainly dirt and weeds in it... and i don't want to keep any of them in there... so how do you think i could stop/solve this problem... any input will help me out....
Thanks

you could got to your local farm store and buy a ...I dont know what its called, but its like a nose flap. it attaches to the nose like a temporary nose ring, and it has a flat metal piece that allows the steer to eat/drink, but not suck. It worked well for us when our 1 1/2 year old heifer did the same thing. Im gonna go look around the internet for it....
